Autochk Cannot Run Due To An Error Caused By A Recently Installed Program
long as you can boot into it on another disk that has the chkdsk cannot run because of recently installed software chkdsk program on it. So… during my normal routine of maintenance of applying patches on servers, I also perform error checking chkdsk error recently installed software package and defrag the servers when I find the time. In addition, I automatically set my servers to run a defrag during the week usually when nobody is logged in. Servers like normal Windows computers http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/error-autochk-cannot-run-due-to-an-error-caused-by/d2bb2658-0281-4b94-8028-bf725204a998 also get stuffed up from time-to-time and I find that defragging not only the Hyper-V Windows Servers but the Hyper-V Guests helps out as well with the overall performance of each machine. When I did a reboot on the Server that runs a specialized application (that of course I knew nothing about -as I just took over) I uncovered this error message upon the reboot: Autochk cannot run http://surrealparadigm.com/?p=185 due to an error caused by a recently installed software package. The message goes on to give me some advice to restore the system from a prior point… bla bla bla. Well, I'm thinking… I have no clue what the heck has been done to this box (slang for server) before me. Not to mention there's a database with critical data on it that I don't want to risk on losing in case the restore point screws everything up - not that Microsoft would ever mess anything up when you listen to them… nuck nuck nuck. 😉 -> BTW that means I'm joking… I know bad geeky humor. 🙂 What made this error so bad is after I fixed it… it took a long time for the server to defrag. Remember when I said earlier that I set all my servers to automatically defrag? This one was no exception however, due to the Autochk error the automatic "Disk Defragmenter" was stopped from running. Thus the Autochk error negatively impacted the overall performance of the machine housing a critical application. Here's what I did to fix it: 1) Find the Windows DVD and insert it into your drive… keep in mind that if you

have another puzzle for you all. I have been cloning new Windows 7 workstations for work with a combination of sysprep and TODO backup. I noticed on a couple of the computers that when ever the computer needs to do a disk check it fails giving me an error saying, "Autochk cannot run due to an error caused by a recently installed software package." After looking up this error most of the time it is caused by an anti-virus program and uninstalling it fixes the issue but on my image I go not have an anti-virus installed yet. I have uninstalled the TODO backup program thinking that it is the problem but no change. I have ran different HDD diagnostic programs to see if the drives are just going bad or if could magically fix the issue but no dice. All the programs came back saying there was nothing wrong. Does anyone have an idea of what I can do to fix the computers so they can preform their disk check? Reply Subscribe View Best Answer RELATED TOPICS: Disk Check On Boot Up - How to stop it? I've seen this before with a bad image capture...sadly....few things to try to help. I assume you were able to do the disk check PRIOR to capturing the image? But, if not....how are you initiating the disk check? through chkdsk command? Via error-checking on the drive? When you run sysprep, what variables are being referenced in your XML file (if you have created one)? Can you run a disk check from a bootable disk outside of the OS? 0 Poblano OP Solecs Jun 6, 2013 at 10:17 UTC I am not sure if I was able to check the disk before I took the image I never tried. I have initiated the check disk from CMD in windows and CMD while in safe mode I used "chkdsk /r /f" both come back saying, "chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process." I am not using a XML file for sysprep. I open the system preparation tool GUI and just manually the OOBE option with th
