with this nasty error : Why things just never work out of the box ...? github android-studio share|improve this question asked May 17 '13 at 17:01 Ivelius 2,49041740 "Why things just never work out of the box ...?" Because they carefully pointed out that this software is still in its early stages, and that things might not always be working properly. Ref. Google I/O 2013. –Nicklas Winger May 28 '13 at 6:52 8 I actually cannot run program "git.exe" jenkins really second that "why things..." comment. Java is out since ages now and I still have to add environment variables here and there. Boring! –Dakatine Sep 21 '13 at 14:10 2 And guess what? It's mid 2016 and I'm still struggling with same error. –Heisenberg Jul 2 at 4:57 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 170 down vote accepted I've solved the problem , and I will explain how : Download Github For Windows client and install it. After The client successfully installed , connect it with your github account. It should be easy , just follow the wizard. Then you should add git.exe location to your "Path Variable". The location you should add will probably be something like : C:\Users\Your_Username\AppData\Local\GitHub\PortableGit_ca477551eeb4aea0e4ae9fcd3358bd96720bb5c8\bin Alternatively , if you don't want to add to environment variables. You can open the android studio and go to : Settings -> Version Control -> Git In text box next to "Path to Git Executable" you will see "git.exe" , just give it a full path like so : C:\Users\Your_Username\AppData\Local\GitHub\PortableGit_ca477551eeb4aea0e4ae9fcd3358bd96720bb5c8\bin\git.exe Hope it saved your time . Happy coding :) EDIT : For latest Github for windows versions some can find the git.exe under "...\cmd\git.exe" rather than "...\bin\git.exe". share|improve this answer edited Dec 16 '15 at 13:46 answered May 17 '13 at 17:01 Ivelius 2,49041740 2 For client you can use msysgit.github.io and use path which

I tried to open a project with Android Studio but it says "Can't start Git: git.exe" and "IDE error". When I click "Fix http://stackoverflow.com/questions/26077449/i-cant-find-my-git-exe-file-in-my-github-folder it" it shows: "Cannot run program "git.exe": CreateProcess error=2, The system cannot find the file specified". So I googled and I tried to find git.exe file in my Github folder. In my Github folder there is two folders: one is a project shared by my friend and the other one is "Git1". In Git1 foler, there are only two files: ".gitattributes" and ".gitignore" I can't find "git.exe" file even with the search bar of windows.
