running report that uses an SQL Query object Technote (troubleshooting) Problem(Abstract) User runs a report. User receives an error. Symptom RQP-DEF-0326 User defined SQL is not permitted for the user who has the identity '{All Authenticated Users, Everyone, Query Users, Consumers, Metrics Authors, Metrics Users, Planning Users, Controller Users, Analysis Users, Data Manager Authors, EDP Portal Admin}'. DPR-ERR-2082 An error has occurred. Please contact your administrator. The complete error has been logged by CAF with SecureErrorID: date Cause The report uses an SQL Query object, but the user does not have the required Cognos security permissions to perform this task. Environment SQL Query = Users can edit the SQL statements directly in a query specification and run the query specifications that contain the edited SQL statements. Resolving the problem Modify the end user's Cognos security permissions to allow both of the following: traverse privileges the 'User Defined SQL' permissions Read and Execute Steps: 1. Launch Cognos Connection website 2. Navigate to Cognos Administration -> Security tab -> Capabilities. 3. Click on the arrow to the right of Report Studio. a drop down menu will appear. 4. Select Set properties. 5. On the screen the comes up select the Permissions tab. 6. Add the "user" or "users group" to the list and grant the traverse privileges. 7. Click OK to commit the changes. Next, we must allow the user (or user group) to run User Defined SQL: 8. Still under the capabilities window under Cognos Administration -> Security tab -> 9. Click on Report Studio. This will reveal the items below it. 10. Click on the arrow to the right of User Defined SQL. A drop down menu will appear. 11. On the screen the comes up select the Permissions tab. 12.
