Everything was going great until about a week ago. I can not get it to print, an error pops into the utility, saying
Canon Printer Communication Error 306
"A communication error has occurred." But the interesting part is that I can still get it to print test pages (printer head alignment etc.) from my macbook. I dont really know too much about troubleshooting on macs. I read

a little about someone who had a similar problem, and they said that they tried to repair permissions, and I found where to do so, but I am not sure if I should just go ahead a repair them? I don't know if that is relevant though. I checked my system update and according to it, all my software is up to date. I really could use any help that any one could offer. Thanks for taking the support code 306 a communication error has occurred time to read my monster size post and thank you in advance for any advice on where to go from here. This will remove the print queue but not the driver so you will just need to add the networked printer again. With Print & Fax still open click the plus button to add. With the Default view selected the MP560 Scanner will appear first. And if you wait a few more seconds the MP560 Printer will also be displayed. Select this entry, which will be shown as canonijnetwork in the Kind column. The Print Using menu should change to Canon MP560 series and when it does click Add to complete. Now try printing with this new queue. If this doesn't work then reply and we'll try something else. Helpful (0) Reply options Link to this post by Colleen C

Just follow the below mentioned steps to complete it, STEP 1: Select the apple icon from the desktop screen in your Mac. STEP 2: Go to System Preferences -> Select Print & Fax. STEP 3: If you http://themacmob.com/forum/error-306-when-trying-connect-canon-printer-mac-101443.html see that the padlock in bottom left is locked? Then just click it once which will ask for the password and enter the password and Click OK. STEP 4: Select the "-" button to remove the printer which you have synced and use the "+" button to add it again as the default printer. These are all in my ~/Library/Preferences list. I would move them to the desktop (just in case you want to move them back), restart your Mac, and try adding the printer again. share|improve this answer answered Mar 16 '12 at 14:31 Michiel 8,49973178 So, I guess deleting the Preferences worked out? :) –Michiel Mar 18 '12 at 22:00 add a comment| Did you find this question interesting?
