Preface: Before I begin discussing my solution to this particular problem, allow me to provide a brief epson xp 310 scanner communication error disclaimer: First, it is important to recognize that this particular error message is inherently (if not intentionally) generic by design and the number of problems that can ultimately produce this particular error is extremely vast. https://files.support.epson.com/htmldocs/pr349p/pr349pug/probs_2.htm For example: A scanner without power can produce this error message. A scanner not connected via Universal Serial Bus (USB) (if applicable) to a computer can produce this error message. A scanner not connected via Ethernet or Wi-fi (if applicable) to a local area network (LAN) can produce this error message. A scanner with a bad or damaged USB cable (if applicable) can produce this error message. A Windows computer that http://mamclain.com/?page=Blog_Personal_Projects_EPSON_Scan_Fix has certain scanner related services disabled can produce this message. A computer with improperly or incorrectly installed scanner drivers can produce this error message. Likewise, there are also a number of other creative (error message) scenarios generally revolving around the notion that some type of communication problem exist between a computer and the scanner. Conversely, while I might touch upon some of these scenarios within my solution (and hopefully my solution can resolve your particular variation of this problem); however, given that this problem is extremely vague in nature, I can make no guarantees that my solution will resolve your particular variant of this error. Furthermore, if your scanner utilizes a USB or serial connection, I can definitely say that my solution will not resolve your problem; however, (under such circumstances) I highly recommend that you examine the list provided above, prior to searching the web again, since the majority of USB related problems are cable or Windows service related (at least based upon my research while solving my particular problem). Second, given the diverse occurrence of this particular problem (since scanners are practically a household item), I attempted to make this article as broad as possible in order to make it more palatable to an assortment of tec

Scanning using the USB lead is fine on mine. However, using the WIFI it only allows me to scan one document then says network not found (or something like that). If I turn off/on the printer/scanner I can then scan another document using WIFI - only one though. I can scan unlimited documents if I use the USB connection. Haven't had time to investigate why yet. Posts: 5,074 Wifi scanning with an Epson Stylus SX425W Hi I just bought the above multi printer and am very pleased with it, apart from I can't get it to scan to the laptop unless it is usb connected. All the other functions work fine, and it is connected and prints via wifi ok. Luckily I do have a usb cable and with this I have been happily archiving family photos, but it a wee bit of a pain in the bum to have to sit near the printer to do this. I have read the manual and it doesn't mention having to use the cable.(the LCD screen on on the printer tells you to USB connect.) Does anybody have this model, am I doing anything wrong? There is no automatic way around this. Does the printer come with a solution centre type thing, or centrally controlled piece of software? What happens if you try and tell it to scan using that over the wireless?
