to solve the problem, but it still wouldn't work. Then, I found two different posts which said similar things (one which was really close by Pahu, thank you!) that led me to the correct canon networking software result. So, I wanted to lay it out in explicit detail here, in the hopes that others could solve their problem quickly & easily. The prerequisite for the steps below is that _your Canon is powered up, configured, & WiFi connected to your LAN_. Here's what I did *that worked*:• Delete any previously installed (i.e., non-working) printers for the Canon• Download the basic Mac installation software for your communication error canon 2900 Canon model at this link, *making sure that you're installing the Canon Networking software* (it may be a separate link, or it could be bundled into their basic install - YMMV):http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=SupportIndexAct• Download the latest printer driver for your model, same link as above. Yes, you will need to download at least these two items, since the drivers in the original installation will not be the latest & greatest.• Install the basic installation/networking software first, then update the drivers• Go to System Preferences:Print & Fax• Click '+' to add a new printer, select Default in the top, left corner of the Add Printer window, then wait for 15-30 seconds• You'll see another Canon printer appear on the list, with a string of numbers after its name. *This is the one you want*, NOT the one which is already there when you first click Default. After you select that printer (do a Test Page to verify it works), you can go back and edit it, trimming the name down by cutting off the string of numbers; doing so will not affect the printer's operation. That's it! The real trick was in selecting the networking version of the printer which is "discovered" by the network when you pu

Just follow the below mentioned steps to complete it, STEP 1: Select the apple icon from the desktop screen in your Mac. STEP 2: Go to System Preferences -> http://themacmob.com/forum/error-306-when-trying-connect-canon-printer-mac-101443.html Select Print & Fax. STEP 3: If you see that the padlock in bottom left is locked? Then just click it once which will ask for the password and enter the password and Click OK. STEP 4: Select the "-" button to remove the printer which you have synced and use the "+" button to add it again as the default printer. Now try to give the print from your Mac to the Canon printer which should work without any error or problems now. I used it last week and it was fine but I've been trying to get it to print for two days and cannot figure out whats wrong.I have a Pixma MG6600, connected via wifi to a Macbook Pro running Mavericks 10.9everytime I try to print, it says printing and a paper will run through the printer but it comes out blank. Then my queue says communication error and gives me a 306 code.I tried reconnecting the printer, I deleted it and reinstalled everything not 10 minutes ago and it's still giving me this error. I can't print via USB because my laptop doesn't have a battery so I can't move it. I tried printing via google cloud and nothing happened there either. Not sure what else I can do, any help would be greatly appreciated 2 people had this problem. Me too Report Inappropr
