Spam Profanity Threats/Abuse Inappropriate Virus/Danger Broken Links Other Answer Just kicking everyone out and rebooting https://community.intuit.com/questions/808646-company-file-in-use the server isn't a viable solution since the problem happens multiple times during the day. A better solution is to research the registry startup values for your server's database manager and to potentially change those settings: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\QuickBooksDB25\Parameters]"Parameters"=" -n QB_YOURSERVERNAME_25 -qs -gd ALL -gk all -gp 4096 -gu all -c 256M -x tcpip(BroadcastListener=NO;port=55363) -ti 0 -ec simple -qi -qw -tl 120 -oe \"C:\\ProgramData\\Intuit\\QuickBooks\\DBStartup.log\"" This is the default settings that I found in my server's registry. The part that I've included in bold sets the minimum RAM. By Intuit's own admission they suggest that these lower ("incorrect") values "keep coming back". To me, it seems unlikely that anything Microsoft is doing has anything to do with Inuit's collection of registry entries--obviously Intuit's own code is re-writing this area and they're causing their own problem.https://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/support/Articles/SLN65343 (click + for "QB 13.0 and higher", click + for "Manually change"

in to Go to QuickBooks.com QuickBooks Learn & Support Home QuickBooks Help Last modified QuickBooks, United States Error: File [company file name].lock is in use by another copy of QuickBooks An error occurs when opening a QuickBooks for Mac company data file: Error: "file [company file name].lock is in use by another copy of QuickBooks", followed by "document [company file name] cannot be opened. Why this is happening This can occur if the QuickBooks file was not opened completely in a previous attempt, which resulted in the .lock file being created but not automatically deleted. How to fix it The .lock file is hidden and cannot be seen using Finder or by navigating to the location. You must delete it using a command line application (Terminal): Close QuickBooks. Find and note the location of the company file. For example: /Users/[user name]/Documents/QuickBooks data/MyCompany.qb2007 Open the Terminal application, typically found in /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app. Use the Terminal application to navigate to the location of the company file using the cd command. For example, enter cd '/Users/[user name]/Documents/QuickBooks data/' and press Enter. Note: Use single quotes around the entire path as shown in the example so that any spaces in the folder names are interpreted as part of the path. Enter ls -a in the Terminal window and press Enter. The Terminal application displays a list of all files in the folder. Find the file with the same name as the QuickBooks company file and a .lock file extension and note its name. For example, MyCompany.qb2007.lock Use the rm command to remove the .lock file and press Enter. Substitute the name of your company file in the example: rm '.MyCompany.qb2007.lock' Important: Make sure you include the period at the beginning of the file name, otherwise you will not delete the file. Confirm that the .lock file was removed: Enter ls -a and press Enter. Look through the list of files and verify that the .lock file does not appear. Close the Terminal application, open QuickBooks, and open the company file. Was this article helpful? Yes No Do you still have a question? Ask your question to the community. Most questions get a re
