There is one error that is not showing a custom error page, and just showing the usual yellow ASP.NET error page. If custom http://stackoverflow.com/questions/20140674/iis-custom-errors-not-showing-custom-error-page errors are turned on it shows "Server error in / application" / "Runtime error", but if custom errors are off it shows "validation of viewstate mac failed" error. But if there is unhandled exception in application iis displays standard yellow page with status code 500. So I'd expect IIS to display my custom error page but it's not happening. Is there any way to force IIS to display asp.net yellow error custom error page on exception? c# asp.net asp.net-mvc asp.net-mvc-5 share|improve this question asked Mar 18 at 12:47 Pawel 1211110 Check your web config, you will need to turn debug mode off and enable custom pages here. Microsoft has good documentation on this msdn.microsoft.com/en-GB/library/h0hfz6fc(v=vs.71).aspx –Harvey Mar 18 at 12:53 As i said error pages displays correctly if i return 500 from server but not on exception. –Pawel Mar 18 at 13:03 Is debug off explicitly? –Harvey Mar 18 at 13:17 what do you mean by debug? Setting mode to off? It displays full yellow page with stack trace and this is not what i want. I have custom error page defined in IIS. –Pawel Mar 18 at 13:19 Here is the Microsoft documentation for enabling/disabling debug, you will need it off in order to show your custom pages as you will get a stack trace otherwise msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/e8z01xdh.aspx –Harvey Mar 18 at 13:48 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote You should add this into the web.config into

Whenever an error occurs, I cannot get the detailed error information, i.e. the "yellow screen of death." Instead, I just get a simple "Sorry, an error occurred while processing your request." message. My Web.config does include the customErrors off, i.e.:
