au Students at the school where I work are getting the error "Application-defined or object-defined error." when trying to application defined or object defined error vba range document their Access databases. If you open the documenter window, select a table and click OK, it works. If you click options and then click OK the above error message comes up. When https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/208704 logged in as administrator, the error does not happen. I assume that it is therefore a permissions problem. I have used google, and an American college has had the same problem in one of their classrooms, and it was attributed to Access not having been installed properly. In google groups I found one post from 2 years ago, but it never got answered. Can anyone help https://bytes.com/topic/access/answers/198502-application-defined-object-defined-error-access-2000-a me please? -- -Luke- If cars had advanced at the same rate as Micr0$oft technology, they'd be flying by now. Try giving everyone Full Control of the Microsoft Office folder and subfolders in Program Files. Also, do a search of the hard drive to see where the wizards are installed and do the same for that folder. -- Wayne Morgan MS Access MVP "beav At wn DOT com DOT au" <"beav At wn DOT com DOT au"> wrote in message news:40********@quokka.wn.com.au... Below is the code to write data into that excel file. When you run this code, it always throws Error#1004 "Application-defined or Object-defined error". When you debug the code (F8) or run it (F5), it runs absolutely fine with out any issues. I am still not able to figure it out on what exactly the issue is. This code works fine when executed in MS Access 2007. Below is thr code that's getting executed and when it fails, the focus is set on the 3rd last line of the code marked in double astriek mark. Code: Sub PopulateReport(appExcel As Object, testcam) Dim Site As String, intRec As Integer, i As Integer, cnt As Integer, intRecSet As Integer, cntr As Integer Dim F1 As String, F2 As String, F3 As String, F4 As String, F5 As String, F6 As String, F7 As String Dim F8 As String, F9 As String, F10 As String, F11 As String, F12 As String, F13 As String, CAMDate As Date Close i = 0 cnt = 0 cntr = 0 Set cnn = CurrentProject.Connection rec.Open "SELECT * FROM Site", cnn, adOpenStatic, adLockPessimistic rec.MoveLast rec.MoveFirst intRec = rec.RecordCount Do Until c

Posted on 2012-04-24 MS Development-Other MS Access .NET Programming 3 Verified Solutions 5 Comments 435 Views Last Modified: 2012-06-21 A visual basic application in my office was built with a MS Access 2000 database. The user was previously using Access 2003. He recently upgraded his version of Access to 2007. The application works fine with the exception of the reports which are all in Access. Attempting to run the reports generates the error “Application-defined or object-defined error”. We do not have the vb code and these reports are necessary. Any ideas of how to rectify this situation? Thank you in advance. 0 Question by:KimD2 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 46 Active today Best Solution byDale Fye (Access MVP) What is the file extension of the Access file you are using? If it is ".accdb", or is still ".mdb" then you may be able to check the references, but if it is ".mde" or ".accde" and you don't have access to the original ".mdb" or ".accdb" file, then you probably will not be able to update the database. 0 LVL 83 Overall: Level 83 MS Access 83 MS Development-Other 14 .NET Programming 10 Message Active today Assisted Solution by:Scott McDaniel (Microsoft Access MVP - EE MVE )2012-04-24 If the VB app was automating Access to run those reports (which is normally how it is done) then you may very likely need the source code for the VB app. Without knowing more about how the reports are run, it's hard to say exactly where the error is created. 0 LVL 74 Overall: Level 74 MS Access 72 MS Development-Other 14 .NET Programming 5 Message Active
