It is asking for date value in the format of mmddyy but if you put the date in that format, the SSS LMS program will not accept it and it will show an error upon saving.SolutionTo resolve this error, first thing is you need to check if you really entered the date in the correct format. The mm is for the month in numerical format with leading zero. For example the month of February should be inputted as 02 and not just 2. The dd means day and the yy means the last two digits of the year. For example the date February 14, 2012 should be inputt

Looking into it, I could not find the right answer. The failingcode was in a sub-form and when called it generated the error immediately. The code I wrote was: Parent.NewSelection And of course, in the parent I defined or object had the NewSelection function defined: Private Sub NewSelection DoSomething End Sub The DoSomething would update a button as required... For real MS-Access pros, you may already have noticed what the problem was. What's really annoying is that the error we get is not capable of telling us what is really going on... The Sub I defined there was marked as PRIVATE. That simple. Just change that keyword with Public and it works just fine. The reasons for not being able to tell that the function should maybe be marked as public is that the name is hidden from external modules (including sub-forms.) The annoying part is that the software was finding the function because if you call a function that is 100% not defined you instead get an error saying the function cannot be found. But somehow it is not capable of telling you, clearly, that the function is private. I get this error message: Run-time error '1004': Application-defined or object-defined error This is the statement that is highlighted when the error comes up. Stop the recorder and see what you get. Maybe you already did this....... I already did that. The problem is that the amount of data that is taken into the spreadsheet is of varying length. So, I can't use a set of pre-programmed cell identities. The macro needs to detect the data that is important in the analysis. Thanks for the advice. I think that I'm going to have to approach this a different way. Neil.
