Application Defined Or Object Defined Error In Macro
7 down vote favorite 1 I am having an issue with a Error 1004 "Application-defined or Object-defined error" when selecting a range. I am still able to select rows (ie Rows("21:21").select) and to select ranges in other sheets of the same workbook. I do not believe the error is in the code. Maybe its some setting I am unaware of? I have used the exact same code many times application defined or object defined error in vba before but for some reason I cannot make it function in this sub (I have commented where the error occurs)... Sub CopySheet1_to_PasteSheet2() Dim CLastFundRow As Integer Dim CFirstBlankRow As Integer 'Finds last row of content Windows("Excel.xlsm").Activate Sheets("Sheet1").Activate Range("C21").Select '>>>Error 1004 "Application-defined or Object-defined error" Occurs Selection.End(xlDown).Select CLastFundRow = ActiveCell.Row 'Finds first row without content CFirstBlankRow = CLastFundRow + 1 'Copy Data Range("A21:C" & CLastFundRow).Select Selection.Copy 'Paste Data Values Sheets("PalTrakExport PortfolioAIdName").Select Range("A21").Select Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks _ :=False, Transpose:=False 'Bring back to top of sheet for consistancy Range("A21").Select Range("A1").Select End Sub I need to get all fancy in my copying as the amount of rows will change frequently. Again, the below code has been used before without error... but not in this instance. Dim CLastFundRow As Integer Dim CFirstBlankRow As Integer 'Finds last row of content Windows("Excel.xlsm").Activate Sheets("Sheet1").Activate Range("C21").Select '>>>Error 1004 "Application-defined or Object-defined error" Occurs Selection.End(xlDown).Select CLastFundRow = ActiveCell.Row 'Finds first row without content CFirstBlankRow = CLastFundRow + 1 excel vba excel-vba share|improve this question edited Jul 27 '15 at 20:40 Mack M. 7361826 asked Jul 31 '13 at 20:58 thomas 36113 1 It's always best to avoid using Select : stackoverflow.com/questions/10714251/… –citizenkong Jul 18 '14 at 14:20 add a comment| 9 Answers 9 active oldest

On the code below, the following are set via a form: TextBox9.Value = 10 ComboBox8.Value = "Consumer Discretionary" I run the macro from Activesheet.Name = "G&I" For some reason I get an error at the code (near the very bottom): VB: Cells(0, Range("GI_Columns_Sector_Value").Column) = TextBox9.Value The thing that puzzels me is that with the variables set as above, I didn't think it should reach that line of code as VB: If TextBox9.Value < 0.1 Then Should prevent that bit of code. I any case the error I am getting is: Run-Time error '1004' Application-defined or object-defined error. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. VB: If ActiveSheet.Name = "G&I" Then If ComboBox8.Value = "Consumer Discretionary" Then Cells(0, Range("GI_Columns_Sector_Value").Column) = wb.Worksheets("Admin").Range("Admin_last_XLY") ElseIf ComboBox8.Value = "Consumer Staples" Then Cells(0, Range("GI_Columns_Sector_Value").Column) = wb.Worksheets("Admin").Range("Admin_last_XLP") ElseIf ComboBox8.Value = "Energy" Then Cells(0, Range("GI_Columns_Sector_Value").Column) = wb.Worksheets("Admin").Range("Admin_last_XLE") ElseIf ComboBox8.Value = "Financials" Then Cells(0, Range("GI_Columns_Sector_Value").Column) = wb.Worksheets("Admin").Range("Admin_last_XLF") ElseIf ComboBox8.V

This is mentioned in the docs for Range.Item. It will will work if Database is the active sheet but not otherwise. Try replacing the error line with With Sheets("Database") .Range(.Cells(i, 11), .Cells(i, 24)).Copy End With Note the periods before Cells. share|improve this answer edited Aug 25 '15 at 10:02 answered Aug 25 '15 at 10:01 cxw 8471418 Can you troubleshoot and tell me the right solution ? –Mr Miyagi Aug 25 '15 at 10:01 When I ran it first time it works perfectly seco
