I've installed the iPod/iTunes software, including the recent update(11-15-04) from the iTunes website. iTunes does not recognize the iPod (does not show up on Source list)and when I disk error try to restore (through USB) I get "Firmware Update Failure. Disk Write Error". I've tried it over and over again and it does not work. My computer also locks and is unable to safely eject the USB connection from time to time. Has anyone else had this problem Don't know what to do. Please help. Posted by rjonesric on 4 Jan 2005 16:27 I experienced the same problem with my older Dell 4100 when attempting to connect to a USB2 card I installed some time ago. Apparently the USB2 communication is repeatedly interrupted, preventing the update from working. I was able to get my iPod to work by connecting it to an older USB1.1 port. Interestingly, I was able to connect an iPod to an older Dell with an add-on USB2 card with no problem. You might try installing a different USB2 card to see if it solves the problem.
