I set the jumper to CS and Master and get the same error. Not sure if there is a Bios Update. Went to Compaq website and had Rom Update for Windows XP from 11/30/2001. The machine originally had Windows ME, then I changed it to W2000. Now I'm trying to put on XP or 2000. Could that be the problem? Is this your only drive that win is on "no partitons" No dual boots? Also a quick fix may be to reinstall win 2000 you will have the option to detect and repair the win 2000 o/s. Maybe this is the anwser? Last but not least is your bios updated, this is a major issue with win 2000! Do you have at least 128 ram? My bet rides on the bios issue!
