One of my clients is running a splitted FE/BE application, about 6-7 users, BE size about 100 MB. In the last weeks the error is coming more and more often. After closing the DB and reopening everything is just fine. But the data entered in the currently open form is lost. At first this happened once a day, now every 90 minutes - which is very annoying for the users. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4997936/ms-access-disk-or-network-error-3043 The web is full of possible solutions and workarounds, but nothing really works or helps to clear this issue. ms-access share|improve this question asked Feb 14 '11 at 22:18 dwo 3,16611433 What OS is hosting the backend file and what OS(s) are running your frontend? Do all the workstations have this problem and do they all show this behavior at the same time? Any reason to believe it might be related to the lock file? Do some machines have more than one entry in the lock file when this occurs (you can read the lock file with Notepad++)? –HK1 Feb 15 '11 at 15:22 Today I've been on site at the client and found out the following: the station with the highest occurence (by far) of the problem is a Win7 64 bit AND (here comes) offline folders enabled. I turned off the offline thing and hopes this will make things better. –dwo Feb 15 '11 at 17:45 Are there other file servers available? One quick test would be to move the back end to a different server. I've seen this fix problems like this, usually because the network settings were different (the most likely candidate is the NetBIOS over TCP/IP setting, actually). –David-W-Fenton Feb 16 '11 at 3:00 No other servers

I am getting the 3043 error in an Access disk or application on same workstation where other Access applications keep running. If the network truly was truly down, I would imagine that all Access applications would fail. Are there causes other than network failure that generate a 3043 error? 0 Question by:compuzak1 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 5 Best Solution byBellone Also, if you are using autonumber fields in your tables, it's worth checking that none of them have lost their 'seeding', i.e. they don't come disk or network up with the next consecutive number when you add a new record. Does the error occur at the same point in the execution of a routine, or is it random? 0 LVL 5 Overall: Level 5 MS Access 5 Message Accepted Solution by:Bellone2009-10-10 Also, if you are using autonumber fields in your tables, it's worth checking that none of them have lost their 'seeding', i.e. they don't come up with the next consecutive number when you add a new record. This type of corruption will sometimes give a 3034. Remedy is to create a new, empty, table, run the existing data into it, then delete the first table and rename the second to the original. 0 Message Author Comment by:compuzak12009-10-10 I have tried Compact and Repair on both the front end and back end. This occurs at random routines, but always on when writing or updating a record (haven't pin pointed exactly, but it is always involved in a DAO file operation). There are autonumber fields in many of the tables that are updated via DAO vba code using seek, addnew, edit, and update commands. Some of the tables have missing numb

But when I try to open the database it says "Can't open a database made by an earlier version of Visual Basic". Could that be the cause? If so how can I convert a database of an earlier version to a VB6 one? So today I googled the issue (again) and found this article from MS (knowledge base article 160907 - Mastering Series: Run Time Error 3043 Disk or Network Error)....I honestly do not know if this solution will work, but it's worth a try. It says to create a Temp folder in C Please let me know if it works for you. Rainbows
