Empathy Msn Problem Network Error
Bug #509721: empathy reports network error and requires killing telepathy-butterfly / telepathy-haze. Edit Remove 138 This bug affects 29 people Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone telepathy-butterfly Edit New Undecided Unassigned Edit telepathy-butterfly (Ubuntu) Edit Confirmed Low Unassigned Edit Also affects project (?) Also affects distribution/package Nominate for series Bug Description Binary package hint: empathy Using MSN with empathy is almost impossible since most of the time it reports "Network error". Please note, that I have no problem with other IM clients using the same user. Also, there can't be major network problem: I am using 1Gbit LAN connection to the ISP's backbone network, also as I've mentioned, no problem with other clients. Also it's a bit misleading to show "edit contact" window, since user can't edit any setting which can solve this problem, I think :) It's up-to-date ubuntu karmic running on 32 bit x86 platform. These protocols include: Gadu-Gadu Groupwise Myspace Sametime SILC Zephyr Note on https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Empathy/Protocols installing Until some D-Bus bugs have been fixed, you might need to log out and log back in to be able to create accounts using a newly installed connection manager. We plan to integrate packagekit to install missing package, help is welcome on bug #518429 Protocol Troubleshooting Here are some known issues you might have with specific protocols, with fixes and workarounds. If you're having a problem not listed here, do not add it to this page. Instead, file a bug or ask in the Empathy chat room (#empathy on irc.gnome.org; irc://irc.gnome.org/empathy). Yahoo Problem: I can't add a Yahoo account in the Accounts window (e.g. it's not in the list of protocols). Solution: Make sure telepathy-haze is installed on your system. On Ubuntu you need to run the following at a terminal: sudoapt-getinstalltelepathy-haze Problem: Yahoo icon blinks constantly while trying to connect but never connects. Possible Solutions: DNS
