I did a virus scan last Tuesday night and on Wednesday my email stopped sending anything but I can error 0x80070057 copy file still receive emails. thing to check is whether your ISP has started applying SMTP filtering - some ISPs do that. As a test, try to telnet over port 25 to smtp.talktalk.net. When I tried it the connection simply timed out, suggesting that it's either limited to a TalkTalk internet account OR there are problems with the ISPs SMTP server...you might need to contact them.
