I've just recently had to install it on a new computer and after sorting http://wiki-errors.com/dealing-with-socket-error-10013/ out various email problems to do with server ports, I managed to send and receive emails (albeit there's still a problem with sending from one of my two different email accounts. However, after reinstalling AVG Internet Security 9, I now get an error message in MWP that says "Socket Error 10013. Access Denied." Does this look suspiciously like an anti-virus program problem? Or is there something http://forum.firetrust.com/viewtopic.php?t=3604 I should be changing in MWP? There might be something here on it if you search the forums. I am not a Firetrust employee just a MW user.-- First rule of computer consulting: Sell a customer a Linux computer and you'll eat for a day, sell a customer a Windows computer and you'll eat for a lifetime. The only incoming are my daily tech letters and a few others. I use Mail Washer Pro so spam never gets to my PC's.This morning, I went to send an email and it was blocked with this error:"The connection to the server has failed. Subject '', Account: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E"Checked all my settings, rebooted the modem and PC, tried different accounts all with the same.My first call to Comcast was answered quickly and the rep told me I had a problem with "Outlook Express" and to call them. I explained that the problem was with Windows Mail and Outlook Express, 3 different PC's and that there was no such entity to call as "Outlook Express". He didn't like that and said the problem was mine and disconnected.Second call was answered promptly and this time the rep had me go to my Accounts/Properties/Advanced, and change the Outgoing SMTP from 25 to 587.She explained that it had been detected that I had multiple email accounts and this was being done for my protection.HUH!She said that having many accounts could lead to spamming by my PC and that if I reduced the amount of accounts, it might be changed back to Port 25. Again without notification.HUH! · actions · 2007-Nov-4 3:32 pm · NetWatchManPremium Memberjoin:2001-03-13Alpharetta, GA NetWatchMan Premium Member 2007-Nov-4 4:33 pm Your tcp/25 block probably has nothing to
