request in a timely fashion 492; Server; googlebigfix Technote (troubleshooting) Problem(Abstract) Error 1053 : The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion Resolving the problem Symptom 1: Attempting to start the FillDB service results in the following Windows error dialog message: "Windows could not start the BES FillDB service on Local Computer." "Error: 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion" Additionally, starting the Root Server service results in the following Windows error dialog message: "The BES Root Server service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are no in use by other services or programs." These errors indicate a condition where the TEM services are set to log into the local server machine as a user that does not have local administrative privileges. For example: By default, the Local SYSTEM account is the account in which TEM services are setup to login as during the installation of the product. There may be a need to have these services (Root Server, FillDB, and GatherDB) login to the machine as an NT domain user. This need is typically when a remote database exists and as these services require connectivity to the remote database, they would need to login as domain users which are provisioned to have access to the database. The fact that they need local admin rights to the server machine they are logging into and running on is sometimes missed. Symptom 2: Attempting to start the Root Server or Relay service results in the following Windows error dialog message: "Error 1053 : The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion" What can I do to resolve this? With the Root Server service or Relay services still stopped,
