Error reading from file. Causes: You may have incorrect user permissions set on the installation target folder. Solution: One possible solution is https://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Error-1309-Error-reading-from-file-during-installation.html to make sure you have full permission to the destination folder where your program is being installed. Locate the folder on your installation drive. Right-click the folder and click Properties. On the Security tab make sure your user name is added to the list, or the Users group is present and that Full Control is selected. Click OK and install. Another possible solution for Error 1309 would be to make sure that the path to the source and destination file is not breaking Windows Installer limit 256 character. For example if you are running the product installer from your Desktop, please move it in a folder on C:\ (e.g. C:\adsk). Posted on 2015-01-25 MS Development-Other C++ 2 Verified Solutions 2 Comments 533 Views Last Modified: 2015-01-29 Error 1309 : Error reading from file..... I am using VS2013 - with latest download of InstallShield Limited Edition From VS2013 -> Solution Explorer -> Installshield Project -> Uninstall/Install: everything is error 1309 error fine. If I run the installer file (right click .msi file->uninstall/install) from the directory it is compiled in everything is fine. If I copy the .msi file anywhere else I get the above error UNLESS I copy the 'program files' directory that is also created in the DISK1 folder of installshield project. I thought this was all supposed to be packaged into 1 file (isn't that the purpose of InstallShield?) This question was originally posted on the flexera forum, but no one seems to be responding to questions on that forum: https://community.flexerasoftware.com/showthread.php?214260-Error-1309-Error-reading-from-file Any thoughts on how to fix this? But I must have committed a blunder somehow. Now Excel won't open and each time I try the above error message pops up. Any hints?
