I am using VS2013 - with latest download of InstallShield Limited Edition From VS2013 -> Solution Explorer -> Installshield Project -> Uninstall/Install: everything is fine. If I run the installer file (right click http://stackoverflow.com/questions/28138868/why-am-i-getting-an-error-1309-error-reading-from-file-when-attempting-to .msi file->uninstall/install) from the directory it is compiled in everything is fine. If I copy the .msi file anywhere else I get the above error UNLESS I copy the 'program files' directory that is also created in the DISK1 folder of installshield project. I thought this was all supposed to be packaged into 1 file (isn't that the purpose of InstallShield?) This question was originally posted on the flexera forum, but no one seems to be responding to questions on that forum: https://community.flexerasoftware.com/showthread.php?214260-Error-1309-Error-reading-from-file Any thoughts on how to fix this? Thanks, JB visual-studio-2013 installshield-le installshield-2012 share|improve this question asked Jan 25 '15 at 16:50 JohnB 59921025 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote accepted I have solved it. When you have your InstallShield LE project ready to Build, Go into Build, Configuration Manager and change the build to SingleImage. Next do a Build. When you navigate the folders to where the CD_ROM folder is, you will see a new folder called SingleImage. As you go through that you will find the single MSI file that contains all folders. No more issues with Error 1309. Hope that helps. s

Hopefully not the problem except been trying to get it to them for the last 2 days and cannot get this to work. MUST have for them by 7am tomorrow...and no closer to resolving this. Here's the deal---formatted a 160 gig FW 400 drive (disc utilty) MS/DOS, then trying to copy my output (I dumped it out of FC 5.1.4 to one of my drives) .avi to the MS/DOS drive and it gets thru about 20 of the 28 min. it says it needs and throws a 'error -1309' ('file's EOF, offset, mark or size is too big', whatever that helpful bit of info means ) and stops. Now it copied smaller files 2-3 gig no problem. But the full show which is 41 gig's won't go. TRied 3 other external dives and cases all MS/DOS, reformated and same thing. Going to see if I can just do the output straight to the DOS drive instead of copying, but jezusonabike, I've done this pleanty before. And the output/encode takes about 4-5 hrs for the 17min HD show of course. Didn't think there was a limit on Win/DOS file sizes, but any thoughts appriciated. DP G5 2.5 GHz, 3 Gig RAM, OS 10.4.8 FCP 5.1.4 Thanks in advance. p2Return to posts indexReport Post •Re: 'error -1309' trying to copy file to MS/DOS drive---HEELLPPP!by zrb123 on Jun 14, 2007 at 6:17:29 amThat drive format cannot hold files that are larger then 2GB some of your files are larger. You must ether split the video files, give them a mac formated drive or format the drive NTFS on a windows computer and copy the files over a network. MS/DOS aka Fat32 is a VARY old format back when it was created the thought of having a file that was larger then 2GB was imaginable.
