Would you like to reinstall it? I press yes. Preparing to remove... Then after that it says... Please wait while Windows configures Java SE Development Kit 7 update 45 After that I get an error: Error 1316.A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:\Windows\Installer\jdk1.7.0_45.msi But the C:\Windows\Installer directory http://superuser.com/questions/684474/how-to-uninstall-the-jdk-after-deleting-its-files doesn’t exist! :( I've narrowed it down to me deleting the files for the JDK (C:\Program Files\Java\jdk) and apparently those files have a file that the Java installer needs to uninstall it. Please tell me how to thoroughly delete all the files for the JDK so I can install it again! Or another way! java windows share|improve this question edited Jun 4 '14 at 16:23 Scott 11.5k112650 asked Dec 5 '13 at 16:04 PatThaCoder migrated from stackoverflow.com Dec 5 '13 at 17:52 This question came from our site for professional and enthusiast programmers. This isn't a programming issue, I'm afraid. :( –Chris Cooney Dec 5 '13 at 16:05 One way would be to install it on a different machine in the same path, copy over the files and then uninstall again. –Devolus Dec 5 '13 at 16:07 Remove the JDK from your system path. –Daniel R Hicks Dec 5 '13 at 16:23 I don't have the JDK in my path ): –PatThaCoder Dec 5 '13 at 16:37 Then there's probably something hiding in your registry. –Daniel R Hicks Dec 6 '13 at 18:07 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote Delete the entire C:/Program Files/Java directory, download Java SE 7u45 JDK from here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html and run it to install. I musthave deleted the files for 1.7.0 without actually uninstalling the program. Now, all my programs/browsers attempt torun java through the old 1.7.0 route and not my new 1.6.0_27 that is currently installed. I tried to uninstall 1.7.0 via the control panel but I get "Error 1316. A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:\Windows\Installer\jdk1.7.0.msi"which I have come to understand is a windows installation error. I tried to Install version 1.7.0 again to get the installation .msi filewhich I must have accidentally deleted, but I get the same error from the reinstaller.I have been trying to get rid of 1.7.0 or at least find a way to be rid of the registry entries from 1.7.0 so that my programs can use the1.6.0_27 java instead. If there is any way to do this, I would be very grateful to hear of it.Thank you very much Logged jason2074Egghead It doesn't matter.Thanked: 224 Experience: Beginner OS: Windows 7 Re: Cannot U
