Hello, I am using: Project type: Basic MSI Release media: single .exe I have two setup files. Firstly I install old version and then upgrade it to a new version. then when I uninstall the application via Add or Remove Programs I receive the https://community.flexerasoftware.com/showthread.php?182618-Error-1316-A-network-error-occurred following error: Error 1316.A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file... Then I found cached .msi and created a log. The following lines: MSI (s) (34:10) [16:45:24:587]: Note: 1: 2203 2: C:\Documents and Settings\vlk\Desktop\QualiWare Execution Framework.msi 3: -2147287038 MSI (s) (34:10) [16:45:24:587]: Note: 1: 1316 2: C:\Documents and Settings\vlk\Desktop\QualiWare Execution Framework.msi made me think that this is because cached .msi file was renamed at some point. The name of the MSI package cannot be changed unless your are using a major upgrade to upgrade the existing package. Also, the 2203 note in the log information indicates the MSI package couldn't be opened because the file couldn't be found (error -2147287038). Windows Installer shouldn't typically require the source MSI package during uninstall. Based on this information, there seems to be another possible issue besides the MSI file being renamed. 'A Network Error has Occurred' during VIPRE Business Agent installation Modified on: Fri, 15 May, 2015 at 11:41 AM PROBLEM The following error is encountered either during the installation, in the Agent's Installation Log file, or in https://support.threattracksecurity.com/support/solutions/articles/1000071022-msi-error-1316-a-network-error-has-occurred-during-vipre-business-agent-installation Window's Event Logs: "Error 1316: A Network Error has Occurred" Note: The Agent-MSI.csv file can be found in the Agent's Volatile Data folder: C:\ProgramData\VIPRE Business Agent\logs\ (Other OS/Version Locations) ENVIRONMENT VIPRE Business VIPRE Business Premium https://kb.cyren.com/av-support/?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/176 All Supported Environments SOLUTION First make sure the policy has the correct IP address or machine name for the policy and/or update servers under the Communication tab of the Policy Properties. If the Microinstaller is error 1316 still installed, remove it from Add/Remove Programs (Windows XP, 2003) or Programs and Features (Windows Vista+) and run the new installer now that the correct IP address or machine name is in the policy. Note: If you had to change the IP address or machine name, you will need to recreate any MSI installer packages that you previously created. If that doesn't fix the issue follow, these directions: Open error 1316 a regedit (Start > Run > type regedit and then press Enter) Delete the key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\116445D9734F351419E319EC305638CC Run the installer again CAUSE The IP address or machine name for the policy and/or update server is incorrect. OR The agent sees the software already installed due to the registry key being left behind from a previous installation and will try to run a repair with a cached MSI installer the registry key is pointing to.
