Note: If you had to change the IP address or machine name, you will need to recreate https://support.threattracksecurity.com/support/solutions/articles/1000071022-msi-error-1316-a-network-error-has-occurred-during-vipre-business-agent-installation any MSI installer packages that you previously created. If that doesn't fix the issue follow, these directions: Open regedit (Start > Run > type regedit and then press Enter) Delete the key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\116445D9734F351419E319EC305638CC Run the installer again CAUSE The IP address or machine name for the policy and/or update server is incorrect. OR The agent sees the software already installed due to the registry key being left behind from a previous installation and will try to run a repair with a cached MSI installer the registry key is pointing to. Average Rating 0 4229 views 11/30/2006 Software Deployment Windows Installer (MSI) Windows Installer (MSI) Error Messages Hi All, Strange one here, I'm deploying a vendor MSI with http://www.itninja.com/question/a-network-error-occurred-while-attempting-to-read-from-the-file an MST to customise to our environment. When I view the logfile on machines that are installing fine the log file says: Package name generated from package path: DOTNETMSI047_0607.msi. Which is the correct file name. On http://www.telerik.com/support/kb/winforms/details/a-network-error-occurred-while-attempting-to-read-from-the-file the logfile on the failing machines it says: Package name retrieved from configuration data: 'DotNetMSI.msi' This is the incorrect name for the MSI and it fails with a 1316. The machines are both using the error 1316 same version of windows installer. The title of the application in the summary information stream is DotNetMSI, so, I'm assuming this is where it's generating the name from? So, my question is, does anyone know why the name is being generated differently? and how I could go about possibly fixing this issue? Any help would be very much appreciated.
