It was installed before I started using it so I figured I would uninstall it and install it properly. When I try to uninstall it in Windows I get the following error message: Error 1316: A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:\Installer\jdk1.7.0_51.msi This file doesn't exist on this machine, I think it was uninstall java error 1316 somehow deleted. I deleted the entries in the registry and I still get the same message. I am trying to search regedit for other entries to remove. –Sting Jan 30 '14 at 22:47 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\4F4A3A46297B6D117AA8000B0D715001 is the key for this version. –Sting Jan 30 '14 at 22:51 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote I recently experienced the same problem. Would you like to reinstall it? I press yes. Preparing to remove... Then after that it says... Please wait while Windows configures Java SE Development Kit 7 update 45 After that I get an error: Error 1316.A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:\Windows\Installer\jdk1.7.0_45.msi But the C:\Windows\Installer directory doesn’t exist! :( I've narrowed http://superuser.com/questions/684474/how-to-uninstall-the-jdk-after-deleting-its-files it down to me deleting the files for the JDK (C:\Program Files\Java\jdk) and apparently those files have a file that the Java installer needs to uninstall it. Please tell me how to thoroughly delete all the files for the JDK so I can install it again! Or another way! java windows share|improve this question edited Jun 4 '14 at 16:23 Scott 11.5k112650 asked Dec 5 '13 at 16:04 PatThaCoder migrated from stackoverflow.com Dec 5 '13 at 17:52 This question came from our site for professional and enthusiast programmers. This isn't a programming issue, I'm afraid. :( –Chris Cooney Dec 5 '13 at 16:05 One way would be to install it on a different machine in the same path, copy over the files and then uninstall again. –Devolus Dec 5 '13 at 16:07 Remove the JDK from your system path. –Daniel R Hicks Dec 5 '13 at 16:23 I don't have the JDK in my path ): –PatThaCoder Dec 5 '13 at 16:37 Then there's probably something hiding in your registry. –Daniel R Hicks Dec 6 '13 at 18:07 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote Delete the entire C:/Program Files/Java directory, download Java SE 7u45 JDK from here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html and run it to install. Never had problems updating Java before. Last week, I had a problem updating the netbook, which was solved by doing a system restore and trying again, and now I'm having the same problem with the PC, and would rather not do the system restore to try to fix it. I thought the netbook problem was due to running a registry fixer and/or changing some services startup options. But I haven't done any of that stuff to the PC. Java uninstalls itself, then tells me it can't access a file, due to a "network error," and this is all under "Error 1316." I did a system restore back to just before this problematic update, which restores the previous version of Java, and don't want to go further back to an earlier restore point if I can avoid it.
