Cisco Jabber Error 1320 The Specified Path Is Too Long
is too long F:\KiQ All readers, "Error 1320. The specified path is too long F:\KiQ" I'm getting this strange error message when running the Windows Installer on all my MSI projects created with InstallShield Developer (v7.x or v8.x). Installing the program in the default location [C:\] is no problem. But trying to install on an other drive [F:\] results in this error. Running the MSI in Test mode there is nothing wrong. draftsight error 1320 Trying to DEBUG does not help either. According to the "status:" on the screen it is working on "Creating folders". Any small help or hind is welcome. Thanks in advance, Kind Regards, Marco. The specified path is too long F:\KiQ Hi Tsungh (and others), Thanks for your suggestion. It was known to me that running the Full MSI Validation Suite does solve a lot of (potential) problems. The same thing goes for the Merge Modules I did build. In the mean time I did some furter investigation. The problem is caused by the fact that the Basic MSI Project includes some Redistributables. Most of them are Third Party (MS) and some of them are my own (KiQ). Including the Redistributables is no problem at all. Only when the "Destination" property is set there is problem. For my own MergeModules I have to set property: "Destination" to "[INSTALLDIR]" to make sure that all the common files are installed at the same (defaul

The problem seems to occur when running the installer on a Vista machine that has been upgraded from an XP machine. It may have something to do with the folders in question being symlinked but that's just a theory. I do see a forum message discussing a similar problem that occurs as the result of a substituted drive, but I don't belive the conditions are the same as we are encountering: http://www.advancedinstaller.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=193&highlight=specified+path+long Is there some explanation or workaround for this problem or perhaps more information we can provide that will help diagnose the problem?
