for both OS's. Worked fine.Per the instructions on the website that after installing the released Fusion to uninstall VMWare tools and then reinstall. vmware workstation I did this by uninstalling through WinXP Add/Remove and then rebooted. XP said it found some new hardware, but I hit cancel. Now when I try to install the tools I get the above error and it aborts. I have disconnected the network bridge, removed references to the shared folder in settings, etc. I still get this error and tools will not install.I had a mapped drive pointing to the M: drive and disconnected that. The only other thing that points to M: is the My Documents folder which I moved to the shared location.I did call tech support and they said someone would get back with me via email within a day. I would like to try and resolve sooner.Any suggestions? Boot in safe mode perhaps? That is how I got AutoCad 2004Lt to finish the registration process. Thanks,Mike 6737Views Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. Show 12 replies 1. Goes through the typical windows progress bar, then comes up with the VMWare tools installer and then gives me the error. Obviously has something to do with the M drive being shared originally, but I deleted that share in the settings portion of the VM thinking that was it.The only thing left for me to do is move the "My Documents" folder away from the M: drive. It is frustrating since I followed the instructions to a 'T'. John's Drupal Books Pro Drupal Development, Second Edition (and now Third Edition) Solution to Error 1327: Invalid Drive Submitted by John on Mon, 2010-02-08 15:55 I was migrating a Parallels virtual machine to VMWare Fusion. After importing the VM and starting it, I tried to install VMWare Tools but repeatedly got the message Error 1327: Invalid Drive Z. It turns out that as part of its OS X integration Parallels writes entries to the registry. The solution was to type regedit at the Windows command line https://communities.vmware.com/thread/97389?start=0&tstart=0 and use it to remove any entries at HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/User Shell Folders that began with Z:. After that, everything was happy. Add new comment Comments I had a similar problem, but Permalink Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Fri, 2010-03-19 01:53. I am trying to install programs on XP through my parallels VM running on OS X. I get a 1327 error sometimes (usually with programs associated with my school software that work on other machines). It is referring to drive E:\. I looked in both registry folders listed on this forum and found no drive entries of any kind. Any ideas?? reply UR Amazing Permalink Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Thu, 2011-02-03 17:30. Well, I don't know if I missed it or if it only shows up when I "Boot" to Windows (using only boot camp, not Parallels), but I found the entry and deleted it and so far so good. Genius I say, genius. What would I do w/o people like you. Also, I find it somewhat unlikely that I missed it in my first search when I had windows running inside Parallels. Any thoughts on registry settings being inconsistent and depending on boot type? Doesn't make sense to me. reply

For some reason, one of my mapped drives got stuck in the registry. I couldn't run the VMware Workstation 6.0 > 6.5 upgrade until I resolved it. I'm not sure if it was isolated to the area of the registry that Astorrs pointed out. I seem to remember it being in multiple places, but I'm sure that's a good place to start. I just searched the registry for it and made the necessary edits. The quick fix I found was actually the subst command. I just created a new mapped drive with that. Astorrs probably remembers this because I qui
“H” drive when Windows Enterprise is installed. If the “H” drive is neither accessible nor installed on the computer, the software being installed would be looking for operating system components that are not in an expected location, therefore the error is triggered. Unfortunately, error 1327 cannot be corrected by disabling the non-existent drive via the computer's Control Panel and requires manual intervention to be corrected. How to Correct Error 1327 Due to a Missing Networked Drive Step 1 – Open “My Computer.” Step 2 – Left click the missing networked drive letter that is causing error 1327 (normally the H drive). Step 3 – Choose the “Hardware” menu option in the uppermost menu tab, then remove the drive from Windows Explorer. Step 4 – Choose “Start” and select the “Run as Administrator” option. Step 5 – Enter Net Use s: servernamesharename in the subsequent prompt. Step 6 – Press the “Windows” and “E” keys to open Windows Explorer again, then select “Map Network Drive.” Step 7 – Choose the “s:network Drive” and enter the “servernamesharename” into the folder that now appears, which will result in the invalid drive being removed and the problem on the computer being corrected. How to Correct Error 1327 while Installing Microsoft Office Step 1 – Select “Start” then click “Program." Step 2 – Select the “Administrative Tools” folder, then choose “Disk Administrator.” Step 3 – Right click the drive letter that will be changed then choose the “Click Assign Drive Letter” menu option. Step 4 – Select the correct drive letter on the subsequently displayed menu, then click “Ok.” Step 5 – Restart the computer and run the Microsoft Office setup disk again and the error will be eliminated.
