I got the same error 1st time. I suspected google chrome corrupting the download files and used mozilla to download (since it does not have any word processing software. hopefully, it wont do such a thing). It installed without any erros.Salman Amoodi( 2015-03-28 03:04:28 +0200 )editadd a comment 6 answers Sort by » oldest newest most voted 0 answered 2013-02-07 16:17:07 +0200 qubit 9393 ●18 ●87 ●63 updated 2013-02-07 16:24:19 +0200 There are a number of related questions on the site. on Windows 7 64-bit; Error 1335 with Data1.cab By steve - Posted on 22 January 2013 As most people now know, java being installed (and seldom updated) on nearly every system running Windows has created major security problems, what with all of the security holes being "day one" exploited. The proper solution (as is the case with most security problems) is to remove something when it isn't specifically needed! When I looked at my own system, I had disabled java from being activated by the browser (disabling the add-ins for chrome, IE, Firefox, etc.) so I was relatively safe from website/ad based attacks, but I also found that I was running three different installations of java including two for 32-bit and one for 64-bit. I figured the easy thing to do was remove all of them, then add back the freshest version of one I needed for my Eclipse IDE to work. Uninstall went fairly well, but I had problems when I tried to install the 64-bit version of java. Every time I installed it, I would get: Error 1335: The cabinet file Data1.cab required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. I tried lots of different things from the googles, but it took a combination of things to get it to finally install... Here's what I did to get the install for win7 64-bit java to work: Clean out your TEMP folder. (Open a cmd window and: "cd %TEMP%" then "cd .." and "rmdir temp /s" [you may need to disable some running services to get everything to clear out]) Disable your anti-virus real-time scan. Download the Win7 64-bit version of java using the manual download from here http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp Optionally, move the download to your desktop or some other folder so it isn't starting from downloads. (I keep a fixes folder on my system where all the downloads I have are saved in folders named each vendor.) Right-click the file and click "Run as administrator" Follow the prompts and java 64-bit should now install. Be sure to enable your anti-virus real-time scan. The key steps are to disable your antivirus and install using the "Run as Administrator" option. Cleaning the TEMP folder out seemed to help as well.
