"did not pass the digital signature check: Visual Studio Team Foundation Server > Team Foundation Server - Setup and Administration Question 0 Sign in to vote I found the article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925336 that indicates the problem is insufficent contiguous memory availble to install the service pack.. But the phrasing of that article is "File was rejected by digital signature policy" which is not exactly the error message I get (show in Subject line). So, does that article address my issue? TIA, barkingdog P.S Why is this issue happeneing? Is it because I setup a single-server install of TFS, including SQL Server all on the same box? Also, make sure you have enough space on your system drive; I'd say at least 4 GB. AFAIK, MS did not publish space requirements for the SP1 installation; I suggest this minimum 4 GB requirement based on experience.-OmarV Tuesday, March 20, 2007 3:31 AM Reply | Quote 0 Sign in to vote We've seen that error happen in one other situation - when the temp file paths ended up being too long.Move the file to a much shorter path (like C:\ or C:\temp) and try it again from there. Stewart -MSFTMay 9, 20070 0 0 0 In my job I have to regularly install, uninstall and reinstall various things, including Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 and I have hit the above error many times. I previously relied on Heath's blog posting about this but my colleague https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/f54f8ddb-aa7e-4c03-bddd-6b51dca9f424/error-1718-visual-studio-sp1-did-not-pass-the-digital-signature-check?forum=tfsadmin Phil kindly brought to my attention that there is now a fix available for the underlying issue which is an installer issue with large patch files. It's just that the Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 is a particularly large patch and frequently fell https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/dougste/2007/05/09/error-1718-when-installing-visual-studio-2005-service-pack-1/ foul of this issue, especially on Windows Server 2003. Well, it's time for a pc upgrade… tadaaa!🙂 WSUS made its jobs🙂 but reported these 3 logs: Product: Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition - ENU - Update ‘Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Explorer - ENU Service Pack 1 (KB926601)' could not be installed. Error code 1603. The object cannot be trusted. What??? It worked well last time (actually a little bit slooooow, but it did it… in the end🙂 ) on Windows XP, now I suppose Windows 2003 R2 has some very little differences compared to Windows XP. Anyway, I found the solution here: Visual Studio 2005 Professional SP1 fails to install . I made these easy steps: -install KB925336, here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925336 -change Enforcement to "All users except the local administrators" in Control Panel \ Administrator tools \ Local Security Policy \ Software Restrication policies \ Enforcment and it worked again!🙂 source: Visual Studio 2005 Professional SP1 fails to install Technorati tags: Visual Studio, Visual Studio SP1, Windows 2003 R2 Like this:Like Loading...
