We have not yet confirmed whether the issue is to do with the OS or the specific machine that we are trying to install this on. The installer is always run by right-clicking and "Run as Administrator", and the users (both, the user running the installer and the Logon User for which the credentials are supplied) are administrators on the machine. Usually the logged in user installing the service, and the Logon user running the service are the same. Here are the things we have tried. Verified the Logon user is a member of Administrators. Verified the user account settings are exactly the same as another machine where it works. Verified from Control Panel - Administrative tools - Local Security Policy - Local Policies - Security Options = that these again match machine where it works. You need to elevate the privileges to start system services. Have you tried running the installer as Administrator? Service VIPRE Business Site Service failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." ENVIRONMENT VIPRE Business VIPRE Business Premium All Supported Environments SOLUTION It is possible that this error is related to the account being used to start the Vipre Business Site Service. If this is the case, using Services.msc to change the log-on account used should resolve the issue. However, this is most likely a Windows-pipe timeout on the attempted start of the VIPRE Business site service. This can be verified by the following:To Verify: Without cancelling the update, go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services Locate the VIPRE Business Site Service (probably stopped) Attempt to start the service. If it returns with Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion, please perform the below rectify the problem. To Rectify: Use the instructions in the following article to add the ServicesPipeTimeout DWORD entry:http://vavsupport.threattracksecurity.com/support/solutions/articles/1000071019 CAUSE The Microsoft Windows Service Control Manager controls the state (i.e., started, stopped, paused, etc.) of all installed Windows services. By default, the Service Control Manager will wait 30,000 milliseconds (30 seconds) for a service to respond. However, certain configurations, technical restrictions or performance issues may result in the service taking longer than 30 seconds to start and report ready to the Service Control Manager. By editing or creating the ServicesPipeTimeout DWORD value, the Service Control Manager timeout period can be overridden, thereby giving the service more time to start up and report ready to the Service.
