Creating your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now I am attempting to install "VMware vCenter Server 5.5 Update 2" and it is failing. I am running the install from this download: VMware-VIMSetup-all-5.5.0-2105955-20140901-update02.iso It stops with this: Service 'VMware Directory Service' (VMWareDirectoryService) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services. In vmdir.log I find this multiple times: WARNING: VmDirRpcServerUseProtSeqEp() failed (382312512), protoSeq (ncalrpc), endPoint(VMWareDirectoryService). Sleeping for 5 seconds before retrying ... The system I am installing on is a new Windows Server 2012 R2, which is running in a VM on ESXi 5.5. The Windows server is an Active Directory member, and I am logged on with an AD admin account. The only reference I can find to the error I have is this KB article, but none of the things here have helped. Installing or upgrading VMware vCenter Server 5.5 fails with the error: VmDirRpcServerUseProtSeqEp() failed (2069695) The only other thing installed on this Windows server is Veeam 7. I have never had vCenter installed before. I would really like to get this installed, so any help would be very much appreciated! You sure you have the correct ISO? The 5.5 ISO I have is VMware-VIMSetup-all-5.5.0-1312299.iso 1 Poblano OP guitarfish Oct 2, 2014 at 7:13 UTC I believe I have the full install. It's a 3GB file. For what it's worth, I had the previous version from about a month ago, and it gave me the same error on install. 0
