Atcfwchg Error 20
marking CF cards as Fixed disks. The problems is I always get a error #20 Has anyone used this utility that can give me a clue I'm using DOS 6.22 with the CF as the primary drive. atcfwchg fail error 20 Guest, May 22, 2004 #1 Advertisements Greg Martin Guest I've received this utility from Sandisk. atcfwchg com error 7 I've found that it works great if the CF is the primary disk (using the cable select, or jumpers), and fails if it is the secondary disk. There are some options there for disk numbers, but I can't recall them. Greg Martin. DaveJones wrote: > I received the utility from sandisk for marking CF cards as Fixed disks. Greg Martin, May 23, 2004 #2 Advertisements Greg Martin Guest Dave, I've used the utility on DOS 6.22 using the command: (for a disk on the primary controller) atcfwchg /P /F (for a disk on the secondary controller) atcfwchg /S /F But in both instances, the disk is the master on that controller. Greg Martin, May 23, 2004 #3 Guest Guest I tried using this utility on a CF, booting to DOS with a floppy, etc. The CF was installed on my SBC's built-in adapter which is on the Secondary IDE as a Slave. I had no luck with this. I used an IDE to CF adapter, put the CF on the Primary IDE as Master and was succussful using the /P /F switches. Guest, May 23, 2004 #4 Guest Guest Thank The /P /F works good if the CF is on the primary IDE channel. Solved Pagefile.sys Posted on 2011-01-20 Windows XP 2 Verified Solutions 11 Comments 2,508 Views Last Modified: 2013-11-05 I replaced my laptop IDE HDD with an IDE-CF adapter and a CF card 300x. The IDE-CF adapter is capable of 150MB/s. The CF card is capable of 45MB/s. I measured the speed of the CF card inserted in IDE-CF adapter with h2benchw software and I got close to 45MB/s for read, with the card new formatted FAT32, empty (no data on it), one partition. I identified UDMA4 for the IDE-CF in Device Manager. I installed WinXP as OS and everything was fine until the system started first time when I got a message/error: the pagefile could not be created or too small and a temporary one (small as 2MB) was created. I went in System Properties/Performance/Settings/Advanced/Virtual Memory/Change and no matter what I tried as values it was all the time 0. Then after reboot the startup screen freezes and after long time Windows starts and gives the same message error: pagefile is zero or small. And is no way to correct this. I tried two versions of XP, in total 3 times, because one time I installed (after CF format) Win98SE and I had no problem, no error message – then I tried to upgrade the system from Win98SE to XP and in the end I had the same pagefile error. Is quite clear that pagefile.sys as Virtual Memory is not recommended to be on CF because will wear the CF fast and seems that Win XP require a HDD for pagefile. The question is: - In case I have no additional HDD or SSD where I could move the pagefile.sys, but only the IDE-CF as replacement for HDD, then how can I get rid of the error, how can I solve the pagefile.sys problem in WinXP having CF inserted in IDE-CF adapter instead of HDD/SSD? - What about additional possible errors that may
