Solved ACCESS Run-time error '3709': The search key was not found in any record Posted on 2006-02-23 MS Access 2 Verified Solutions 7 Comments 13,088 Views Last Modified: 2011-08-18 I am having a hassle with https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/302525 an ACCESS app that a colleague developed to extract data from a Foxbase database. The hassle that I am having is that all of a sudden after literally years of working just fine it has decided that a particular table is a problem. The source database has not changed at all because I would definitely know about that – I would implement any updates – and thus I have to think that ACCESS has suddenly https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/21749893/ACCESS-Run-time-error-'3709'-The-search-key-was-not-found-in-any-record.html developed a problem. The error message that I receive when I try to extract data from the linked table to my table is Run-time error '3709': The search key was not found in any record I have checked documents http://support.microsoft.com/kb/301474/en-us and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/239114/ which specifically talk about this type of issue and find that there is no issue with the ACCESS platform at this time that I am running. I run ACCESS 2003 SP2 with Jet 4.0 database engine version 4.0.8618.0 Windows XP SP2 and Security Bulletin MS04-014 I will try to run on a machine that does not have MSO SP2 on it over the weekend and see if I still have the problem. It is strange because an old data set works - current does not? I need to resolve this issue urgently and would really appreciate your assistance. 0 Question by:Itsolv Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 39 Best Solution bythenelson Since you are thinking the problem lies with the Access DB, you can try: Steps (approximately in order) to use to fix a corrupted Access database. 1) CREATE A BACKUP OF THE CORRUPT DATABASE. Then, error 3709 the when you are sure they are all out (including you!), check for the existence of an .LDB file in the same directory as the shared database. If it is there when no one is in the database, you have a dangling lock file that is now desynchronized from reality. Mechanically, what happens is, someone opens a record. They take out a lock. Now the LAN drops. Their query fails and their program exits (maybe), but because the LAN went away, their copy of Access cannot update the lock file. Now you have a lock file that contains old data in it. If that doesn't work, repost in this thread. Perhaps someone else will have an idea for you. I made a new table called hardware. I added two fields (code and pinkgroup). I can insert into these tables but everytime I try to update one I get: The search key was not found in any record. I searched the internet and it says that it is probably a corrupted database and that I need tp use compact and repair which I did. I even deletedthe table and made them again. Every time I go to update, I get the same message. HELP...!!!!!!!! Last edited by bebandit; Jul 23rd, 2003 at 01:50 PM. This article applies only to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb). SYMPTOMS When you create a Memo field in a Microsoft Access database and create an index on that field (or you create a field name that includes text that is automatically indexed), you can enter only a specific amount of text. Once you reach this limit (approximately 3450 characters), you can enter no more text and you can also not edit the existing data. If you try to do so, you receive the following error message: Run-time error '3709': The search key not found in any record. RESOLUTION If you must enter a large amount of text in the Memo field, delete the index for the Memo field. To do so follow these steps: Open the table with the Memo field in Design view. On the View Menu, click Indexes. Click the index for the Me
