Best luck. share|improve this answer answered May 9 '13 at 7:29 George SEDRA 45029 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote Same thing happened on my www.nairaforsms.com after I changed my CPanel username. I solved it by editing the log and tmp paths in the configuration.php file. I replace the old username with the new username in the paths. share|improve this answer answered Apr 2 '14 at 13:16 Jide 81664 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote In case of incorrect password,500 error message comes when we dont have enough permission. Check your tmp and logs folder. And also error.php in logs folder must have write permission. share|improve this answer edited Oct 26

I have this problem for several month and I am sure that it's not caused by folder permissions or log and temp path. I have no solution right now. maybe in future –user1956295 Apr 25 '13 at 17:17 1 If this alone doesn't work, go to phpmyadmin, select all the tables and select repair from the dropdown. –Popsyjunior Oct 9 '14 at 12:53 add a comment| protected by Community♦ May 28 '13 at 22:30 Thank you for your interest in this question. I have a website that when I try to log into the backend, it throws a 500 internal server error. I get presented with the Joomla Administrator login box and enter the credentials fine. As it is logging into the site, it throws a 500 internal server error. I've removed .htaccess and php.ini error 500 and it still throws the error. Any way to disable all the active components/plugins/modules via SQL and see it allows the login? Any other thoughts? BTW. The frontend works fine. The website URL is www.itscalifornia.org Thanks, Joe Please become a member of OSTraining to reply to this post. 500 Internal Server Error on Backend Login 6 months 1 week ago #125350 Nick OFFLINE Posts: 23624 Thank an error has you received: 694 Hi Joe, Please access your configuration.php file via FTP or your host's file manager and check that the "logs" and "tmp" settings are correct. I think that will fix it for you. Is this a Joomla 3.5 site, by the way?
