port used was closed" I have been using a huawei E220 HSDPA usb modem to connect to internet but recently since I started seeing this error from the modem I have failed to use it to connect to internet. I have the right settings from my service provider such as the APN, I have data on my data card. my modem has never got any physical damage, I tried to use the modem on error 628 dial up other computer not mine alone but still the same message comes. I contacted the huawei website but I found no solution. Please help me out before I consider buying another modem. Step 1 Download Error 628 Fix-it Wizard Your System: Windows, English? Compatible with Windows 10/8/8.1, 7 & Vista. File size: 2.04MB, Safe Download Uninstall and Reinstall Modem This problem is caused by corrupt modem drivers. Uninstall and reinstall your modem driver to fresh attempt establishing a network connection. For Windows 8.1/ 8: Press Windows Key + X. Click “Device Manager”. Expand the top level entry from left hand side panel. Expand “Network Adapters”. Right click the network adapter displayed as sub items. Select Uninstall option. Wait for a moment and then restart your PC. Repeat Steps # 1-3 again. Right click the top level entry; choose “Scan for hardware changes”. The modem will be automatically detected and installed. For Earlier Versions of Windows: Click the Start button, type “Device Manager” in the Search Box. Press ENTER. Refer Steps # 3-8 from Windows 8.1/ 8 user’s paragraph.
