Error 628 Vpn Vista
an issue on a Windows 7 laptop which is unable to connect to a PPTP VPN coming from Draytek router. Whenever vpn error 628 verifying username and password the user tries to connect to the VPN they get error 628. So far I have tried the following: Removing anti-virus (McAfee and AVG were both installed) Turning off Windows Firewall Created new VPN

While Microsoft VPN solution would require CHAP, MSCHAP or better error 628 the connection was terminated by the remote computer authentication protocol, when we had other clients, we had to lower password handshake protocol to "exchange passwords as clear text". Perhaps for starters, you can set your authentication protocol on Windows 7 to allow for unencrypted passwords (PAP). Also, while I appreciate the router providing the VPN is a 3rd party product, the error message I am receiving is a Windows error, which only effects this machine and no other, so I thought it was appropriate to log this issue here.
