I was sniffing the wrong lamppost !The VPN works fine - The place where I was trying to test it was blocking the GRE packets. Once I tried it from home, it worked without a problem. Thanks !Jon (in reply to scriven_j) Post #: 3 RE: Disconnected. Error 721. Hi AllI've just set up an account with netspace and am using the speedtouch usb (the funny looking blue stringray). The line synchs fine, both lights on constant green. But every time I try an connect, it tries "verifying username and password" several times then loads the error:Error 0721: The remote computer did not respondI am running XP pro and downloaded the latest drivers. The connection has apparently be active now for 3 days and I still can't get on. tried the help desk and all they can recommend is re-installing the drivers. Done that about 5 times already.I've tried heaps of variations on the username (eg, just blindfox). But even if I put in a completely wrong/user pass, still get error 721.I have a screen shot here: www.redtown.net/adsl.jpgIf anyone has any idea I would be eternally greatful!CheersNick User #19718 1741 posts Mad Jack Kidd Whirlpool Enthusiast reference: whrl.pl/Re3Zq posted 2003-Mar-8, 6:02 pm ref: whrl.pl/Re3Zq posted 2003-Mar-8, 6:02 pm I googled and all I could find was this link:cert.uni-stuttgart.de/ar...01/msg00040.htmlwhich related to trying to log into a VPN on a WINXP pro machine.Attempting to log into the VPN from an XP machine hangs during the verifyingusername/password portion of the login. If you wait long enough, youeventually get back one of several error codes.. The most popular are:Error 721: Remote computer did not respondand Error 619: The port was disconnected. His solution was:The problem appears to have been with the route on the RRAS end of the server. Disabling and re-enabling the 'internal' NIC seemed to rebuild theroute correctly. The only thing I can think of is that the route must'vebeen built dynamically at boot based on the card startup order.I'm not sure how helpful this is ........ probably totally useless but it may give you a clue ........Cheers,BigJ User #19718 1741 posts Mad Jack Kidd Whirlpool Enthusiast reference: whrl.pl/Re3ZN posted 2003-Mar-8, 6:12 pm ref: whrl.pl/Re3ZN posted 2003-Mar-8, 6:12 pm hmmm also found:Error 721 - Remote PPP peer is not respondingError 721 In Win2000 Right Click the connection icon Left click Properties Click the Networking tab Click on the Settings button.
