the wesite says 3G is using turbo code where 4G is using concatenated code for forward error correction code (FEC). https://www.researchgate.net/post/4G_Forward_error_correction_code_FEC_using_turbo_code_or_concatenated_code Which one is correct? Some journal says vice versa. Practically, in the more general case, a turbo-code could be a serial or parallel concatenation of 2 or more codes (the codes could be convolutional forward error correction or other...). So in conclusion, both statements (turbo or concatenated) are not contradictory, but rather indicate the same thing... Jul 17, 2013 Deleted So the concatenated code is actually the turbo code? Jul 18, 2013 Charles Yaacoub · Holy Spirit University of Kaslik That's right. Turbo codes are used in both 3G and 4G Jul 18, 2013 Can you help by adding an answer? Turbo codes, and their improved variants with better error correcting capabilities, and LDPC codes are near Shannon limit channel codes and are used in such systems. This paper focuses on error correcting codes used in present and future generations of mobile communication systems for improving system performance. These systems have higher data rates and low energy per bit. The comparative performance evaluation of Turbo codes and LDPC codes and their suitability for future cellular network is explored in the paper. This comparison will be useful in the selection of error correcting codes for future mobile communication systems.Discover the world's research10+ million members100+ million publications100k+ research projectsJoin for free FiguresEnlarge Modern error correcting codes for 4G and beyond:Turbo codes and LDPC codesPradeep M.
