I always get the following error when trying to sign my app: Error creating AIR file: Unable to build a valid certificate chain for the signer. This is not an issue when I sign the app with a self-signed certificate. I'm trying to sign a .air file for the desktop. I'm on Mac OSX. Is there anything I must do before using the p12 file? I have previously (2 years back) purchased a p12 key from the same provider and that one did not have any issue. That key has expired now though. flex air certificate share|improve this question edited Apr 16 '14 at 16:26 Tshepang 4,6841059103 asked Jul 7 '12 at 6:12 Yeti 1,79762859 This sounds familiar; and I thought it had something to do with a corrupted, or incorrectly created, certificate. But, I'm not remembering details. –JeffryHouser Jul 7 '12 at 6:53 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 7 down vote accepted After looking around I was able to generate a new P12 certificate which works. Figure out which AIR SDK you are using, and change it in your App Descriptor file (AppName/src/AppName-app.xml). Is that the entire error you are receiving? share|improve this answer answered Aug 30 '12 at 22:15 Josh Janusch 6,37511137 yes thats the entire error i am receiving. the flex builder ide i am using is Adobe Flex Builder 3 –Vik Aug 30 '12 at 22:30 1 I have no experience with Flex Builder, but it might be wise to update your AIR SDK (if possible) and match the namespace (ns.adobe.com/air/application/1.5) in your App descriptor to match the new SDK (ns.adobe.com/air/application/VERSIONNUMBERHERE). I get this issue all the time (I am switching between AIR SDKs frequently due to unique issues with each), and it is almost always the namespace not matching the s

Now the detailed error was !ENTRY com.adobe.flexbuilder.project 4 43 2012-06-29 09:28:43.967 !MESSAGE Error occurred while packaging the application: 12 !ENTRY com.adobe.flexbuilder.project 4 43 2012-06-29 09:28:43.967!MESSAGE Error occurred while packaging the application: NotAfter: Thu Jun 21 15:25:11 EST 2012 1 NotAfter: Thu Jun 21 15:25:11 EST 2012 I had no clue whatsoever why this was happening. I did following but nothing worked Restarted my Flash builder Recreated my projects Restarted my machine Nothing worked!! Then I thought to give that error a closer look. It was talking about some date. Flash builder does a poor job when displaying error. They are not so informative, isn't it. Well it turned out that my development certificate has expired. Darn! Now I have to create a new CSR and then get a new Development certificate from Apple iOS provisioning portal (You will need your newly created CSR in iOS provisioning portal). Once I was done with creating new certificate and installed in my Run configuration Ta!Da! Everything worked like it was suppose to. By the way another tip I would like to through here is that in case you lost the error messages in exile you can always view them from the logs that Flash Builder produces. They can be found here Flex 4.6
