There are about 20 content pages, that all use a single master page. To keep things cleaner on the pages themselves, I added the ScriptManager to the Master page itself (that way I didn't have to add it to each page). On the pages that contain an UpdatePanel, there is only one UpdatePanel per page. On all of the pages that contain UpdatePanel, I started getting this error message in design mode: 'asp:UpdatePanel' could not be set on property 'ContentTemplate'. I have not changed anything design-wise on these pages - why is it having a problem rendering them now? If I run the application, the pages are displayed properly and the UpdatePanel functions correctly. To top things off, I restarted my computer and reopened the main (default.aspx) page (which contains an UpdatePanel), and it was displayed correctly. I can manually create a new UpdatePanel, and move the controls into this new one, and things work well again - but this seems like a big waste of time. First off, the number of pages in my application make this a pretty large task. Secondly, since I didn't know what caused this, I have no guarantees that it won't happen again later (undoing all of my work). I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or comments on how to resolve this highly annoying issue. Thank you! Here is what I did to solve the problem after some search: 1. Exit Visual Studio 2005 2. Go to Administrative Tools –>Services, locate IIS Admin Service from the list, then click Restart the service. Wait until the service is restarted 3. Go to C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\ folder, find a folder with the same name as the application’s name, then delete the folder and its contents 4. Re-launch Visual Studio 2005 and re-open t
