What is it that I do wrong? I am using Windows 7, Visual Studio 2008 SP1 and the absolute latest version of Telerik RadControls. I have many different projects on my disk pointing to different local websites. Thanks Teresia Petar Admin 219 posts Posted 21 Jan 2011 Link to this post Hi Teresia, I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing design time problems with our RadControls. I don't know if you have seen and tried the steps in the following two articles: Visual Studio: "Error Creating Control" Design-time Troubleshooting If they don't help you then I will ask you if you can provide some more details about what steps have you tried. Did you install the latest version using the installer? Do you have other versions of the RadControls on your machine? Regards, Petar t

200 Replied On: Fri, May 27 2011 10:09 AM Reply I have recently setup a new pc. I downloaded the infragistics control (I have a key) and http://www.infragistics.com/community/forums/t/55981.aspx am using version 10.3.20103.2120. I ran the utility to create the toolbox tab. When I run my program it seems to be fine, but in the design view of my http://rostacik.net/2011/01/25/dont-forget-to-add-teleriks-webresource-handler-to-both-sections-in-web-config-file/ aspx page I'm getting Error Creating Control. Failed to create designer Infragistics.Web.UI.NavigationControls.WebDataMenu. I tried searching for a solution and things talked about the registering DLLS into the GAC. I don't error creating understand what this means and don't remember having to do so on my old PC. Just so I understand everything correctly can you tell me exactly what needs to be in my web.config and what needs to be in my aspx page. It would be nice so that when there is a new version of the control I don't have to error creating control go into each aspx page to change the version number. I'm sure this is possible but I'm not used to using these types of controls. current aspx page code snippet... <% @ Register assembly="Infragistics35.Web.v10.3, Version=10.3.20103.2120, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7dd5c3163f2cd0cb" namespace="Infragistics.Web.UI.NavigationControls" tagprefix="ig" %> <%@ Register assembly="Infragistics35.Web.v10.3" namespace="Infragistics.Web.UI.NavigationControls" tagprefix="ig" %> <% @ Register assembly="Infragistics35.Web.v10.3" namespace="Infragistics.Web.UI.DisplayControls" tagprefix="ig" %> current web.config code snippet....

I think at one point I copied the dll from the program files directory to my bin directory and added them to my project. Not sure if this is the best practice either but it worked. I see all the infragistics dll in my bin directory, but is there another place where I should be looking for them to be referenced. This is a web site project. In case you havnt noticed I am very confused on this :-) Thanks Reply Post Points: 35 Verified AnMicrosoft, Telerikdusan Today I came across easy to spot but nasty little problem when deploying ASP.NET app with Telerik ASP.NET AJAX controls. When creating the project, some coleague of mine (propably) used old web.config file to create new app (because of some common classes and setting that we use). Anyway, with Cassini everything worked fine, but when deployed on IIS 7.5, I got an ‘~/Telerik.Web.UI.WebResource.axd' is missing in web.config. RadScriptManager requires a HttpHandler registration in web.config. Please, use the control Smart Tag to add the handler automatically, or see the help for more information: Controls > RadScriptManager error. I googled out in some discussions that : you should set the Managed pipeline mode from Integrated to Classic. This indeed solved the problem with behaving IIS 7.5 as old 6.0 (with handler registered in old web.config node), but I wasn't convinced that to use Telerik's controls, I should use old type of pipeline. That would be really strange. So I was searching around, what is the real problem. I looked in web.config file and then it finally hit me. 🙂 Our old web.config file registered Telerik's handler only in old
