Posts: 54 MAME - Roms running in window « on: December 18, 2010, 07:07:47 pm » Hi allI am just in the process of installing and setting up MAME.I am running Windows XP pro (SP3), on a P4 2.80, with 1 Gig RamI have tried a few versions of MAME from the latest to MAMEUI32, with the same results. All the roms open within a window (That cant be resized) and you can directsound driver download still see the other applications running in the background. I also get an error "Error creating direct sound 88780078"I have set up mame before, with no issues, but this is a new one on me. I'm not sure if the culprit was doing a Windows7 update today (hadn't done one in about a month). When I did the individual sound test I did get the proper 'ding' test sound indicating that the sound is working. Playing Winamp I receive a "Error creating DirectSound buffer. Error code: 88780096" alert message. Windows Media Player/VLC/WM Classic all open and play properly without sound. I thought a culprit could perhaps be "HD VDeck" (this uses a SPDIF Interface) sound system enhancer ... the self tests here seem to indicate that a everything is performing properly.
