Windows Description (last modified by sunlover) (diff) I have tried everything to get virtualbox to directsound error stop giving me this error, but nothing works. Below is the relevant section of the log for a test VM I created with all http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/directsoundcapturecreate-failed-hrdserrnodriver/ec523159-4321-415d-85ef-8af44d205cf2 default settings just to test this bug. 00:00:00.765 Audio: Trying driver 'dsound'. 00:00:00.810 DSound: Could not initialize DirectSoundCapture 00:00:00.812 Audio: set_record_source ars=0 als=0 (not implemented) 00:00:00.812 AC97: WARNING: Unable to open PCM IN! 00:00:00.812 AC97: WARNING: Unable to open PCM MC! 00:00:00.812 VM: Raising runtime error 'HostAudioNotResponding' (fFlags=0x0) https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/9205 00:00:00.812 Console: VM runtime error: fatal=false, errorID=HostAudioNotResponding message="Some audio devices (PCM_in, PCM_mic) could not be opened. Check the logfile for error messages of the audio subsystem" Change History comment:1 Changed 5 years ago by dark_overload Further testing shows that using HD audio causes only PCM_in to fail, and SB16 doesnt give errors. comment:2 Changed 5 years ago by dark_overload Scratch that, the log still shows "Could not initialize DirectSoundCapture" comment:3 Changed 3 years ago by Tomer The following website seems to explain this issue and provide a solution to the problem: http://amindlost.wordpress.com/2012/02/08/virtualbox-hostaudionotresponding/ Last edited 3 years ago by Tomer (previous) (diff) comment:4 Changed 23 months ago by sunlover Description modified (diff) We think we fixed this problem. WinAmp worked perfectly until a few minutes ago - failure maybe either due to running MS https://github.com/ptitSeb/freespace2/blob/master/src/sound/dscap.cpp MediaPlayer or RealJukeBox. System is W2k, new installation of WinAmp and restart of computer does not help. I appreciate any help. Thank you! wborchert View Public Profile Find More Posts by wborchert 23rd June 2001, 00:49 #2 Chichomang Junior error creating Member Join Date: Jun 2001 Posts: 14 Hey - I have the same problem - can't create direct sound object. I don't know why it happened. But a few days ago my winamp program wouldn't even run without freezing, I finally got it to stop freezing, but the wave out plug-in won't work (I get: MMSYSTEM032 error, non of the fixes here worked for that). So I decided to try direct sound but I cant find any help on that either. If it's error creating directsound one thing I've learned on this board, it's that patience pays off - DJEgg will probably check in soon and hopefully help us out. This is a soundcard drivers related issue. Either some other hardware/software is using the soundcard's resources, or the relevant audio codec is either missing or damaged, or has been replaced with an incompatible version. What filetypes do you experience this error with? WAV, MP3, WMA, MID, AudioCD, one of these, all of these? First of all, make sure WMP & RealPlayer/JB are fully closed, including RP Start Center in systray. For instructions on how to disable Start Center permanently, go here Have you installed or uninstalled anything just prior to the appearance of this problem? Normally, the only real way to fix this problem is to reinstall your soundcard drivers, preferably the latest versions, and maybe reinstall DirectX too. You may have to reinstall the windows multimedia codecs & WMP as well! Rather than me just repeating everything that's already been said all over again, all the relevant info regarding the "MMSYSTEM032 / MMSYSTEM007 / Could not create DS object" errors (etc) can be found via the links in this thread: TSGH -> Useful Links eg.
