I'm having an issue I've had before: When I try to Test Scene, Test Movie, Publish or Export a quicktime, I get this alert: Error Creating Flash movie file. Be sure the destination file is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check that the file name is not too long. I've gotten this quite a few times before, and the suggested fixes don't work. Usually, I have to copy every frame and paste into a whole new project, which as you probably know, is a *****. Any ideas on what may be going on here? I exported a file last night before I shut down and all was well. I tried removing the audio file I added this morning to see if that was the issue, and it wasn't. Anyone else experience this? Thanks all! Gordon 3882Views Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. Show 11 replies 1. Re: Error Creating Flash Movie File liftconcepts Jul 2, 2008 6:59 AM (in response to RTD Studios) What the hell is going on with this issue? Its been around since Flash 3. In every single program I've ever used "Save As" makes a carbon copy of the file, same permissions, same everything. I just lost about an hour of work due to this, and do not plan on spending another hour searching for the answer to the same bug I reported 4 years ago. At least this time I only lost an hour, and not 6. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. Making sure no files are set to read only. I've tried publishing locally, publishing on the server. No luck. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 3. Re:

Be sure the destination file is not locked or on a locked drive. http://board.flashkit.com/board/showthread.php?643885-Flash-problem-error Also, check that the file name is not too long." Anyone ever have this before, or know what I should do? • Cannot export Quicktime movie by Brian Covalt on Oct 9, 2008 at 7:45:28 pm When I try to export a Quicktime movie from the Export>Export Movie, I get this error message: Error creating Flash movie file. Be sure the destination file is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check that the file name is not too long. A few things I've tested: • Saving to different drives - all of which are not locked. • changing the file name to one single word followed by .mov • saving the flash file as a new file and trying again • opening the file on a different machine and exporting None of these have fixed the problem. Every time I get the same error. I've been able to export swf movies and also JPEG sequences, but I'd much rather be able to export the Quicktime movie since I need to bring this into FCP and the Flash movie has sound in it as well, so with the JPEG sequence I'd have to lay in the audio again. Thanks for any help!Return to posts indexReport Post •Re: Cannot export Quicktime movieby nellsson boijacks on Nov 6, 2008 at 3:39:28 pmBrian I am having the same problem. Have you discovered any answers to your posting? NboiacksReturn to posts indexReport Post•Re: Cannot export Quicktime movieby Brian Covalt on Nov 6, 2008 at 6:01:54 pmNope. My only solution was to export an image sequence from Flash. I then had to create a new sequence in Final Cut with those images and then nest that into my main sequence. Kinda stinks. I think Flash just sucks with quicktime. I remember about a year ago I was on the phone with Adobe's Flash support about problems with quicktime and in the end they concluded that it just doesn't work well and called my problem a "bug". He also mentioned that it wouldn't be a priority of theirs to resolve this issue. But what boggles my mind is how so many animation studios still rely on this program given its problems? I guess they're not exporting quicktimes...Return to posts indexReport Post•Re: Cannot export Quicktime movieby nellsson boijacks on Nov 6, 2008 at 7:54:16 pmBrian, Thanks for the information. Even though the news is not good, it tells me that I am not the only one who has concerns about Flash (software that is required for a college program that I am enrolled in). I have written to Adobe, and their reply was basic @#$Q!$%@$#%. Oh well...Return to posts inde
