Hi Constantin,Thanks for your help.I have an ATI MOBILITY FireGL V5200 graphics card running Driver Packaging Version 8.353.1.1-070508a-047760C-ATI . This is the latest driver. On occasion the TightVNC viewer does work, but I can close it and then re-open it without changing any settings and I get the black screen. I changed the color depth from 32 bit to 16 bit and now it seems to work consistently. This still leaves a couple of

Google shows this is a relatively random issue with no real answers back to 2000 though. Recently I upgraded to a 24" monitor with 19"s to the side, new video drivers, and UltraVNC 1053 from an older 103 version I believe on Vista32. Now when I try to connect via remote all I get is the error msg of"error creating local image of screen" http://tightvnc.10971.n7.nabble.com/Re-Tight-VNC-Viewer-Error-creating-local-image-of-screen-td396.html and the connection dies. I am able to Java in via port 5800 but this is not as convenient. Any ideas? Thank you. alister Posts: 2Joined: 2008-11-13 15:29 Top Re: error creating local image of screen by alister » 2009-03-11 15:41 Not an answer, but a solution... I switched to RealVNC on server and client and everything works fine. alister Posts: 2Joined: 2008-11-13 15:29 Top Re: error creating local image of screen by tornadokat http://forum.ultravnc.info/viewtopic.php?p=57191 » 2009-04-02 18:33 I am having this problem since our WinXP Pro computers were updated to Service Pack 3 tornadokat Posts: 1Joined: 2009-04-02 18:30 Top Display posts from previous: All posts1 day7 days2 weeks1 month3 months6 months1 year Sort by AuthorPost timeSubject AscendingDescending Post a reply 3 posts • Page 1 of 1 Return to General help Jump to: Select a forum ------------------ Administrativa and off-topic Announcements and other administrativa Off topic posts (Sandbox) Open discussion Version-specific help 1.2.1.x 1.2.0.X 1.1.9.x 1.1.8.x (Stable) 1.0.9.6.1 (stable) 1.0.9.6 (stable) 1.0.9.5 (stable) 1.0.9.1 (stable) 1.0.8.X (stable) Older 1.0.6.X General help FAQ Beginner questions Plugins and helper programs pchelpwareV2 BETA ChunkVNC DSM plugin JavaViewer MS logon plugin SC SCIII PcHelpWare uvnc2me ( logmein free alternative) Feature requests News Announcements and Releases Developer discussions (mainly user-mode) Doc-Writer discussions VNC-related products Who is online Users browsing this forum: No registered users and 4 guests Board index The team • Delete all board cookies • All times are UTC Powered by phpBB Forum Software © phpBB Group
] [ thread ] [ subject ] [ author ] I have recently installed a GeForce 3 reference card in my computer, and when trying to use the Windoze version of the VNCviewer error creating in 32bit color desktop I will get a blank VNC window and the message "Error creating local image of screen". Previously using a Voodoo 5 5000 video card I did not get this error creating local error. The VNCviewer will work fine in 16 bit desktop. VNCviewer will also work fine if I open it up in 16bit and then change it to 32 bit. But I cannot open the VNCviewer in 32 bit. Anyone have ideas what the cause may be, and maybe a solution?
