Error Creating Lock File Accessing The Requisitepro Project
ldb; exclusive; requisitepro; access; oracle; sql; lock; open; project; 1136227 Technote (troubleshooting) Problem(Abstract) This technote explains how to determine what user has an IBM Rational RequisitePro project opened exclusively which causes the followign error message to appear when opening the project, The RequisitePro Project is opened exclusively. Cause This error is caused when another user has opened the RequisitePro project with the exclusive option. This option will lock the project preventing any other user from accessing the project. Resolving the problem First you need to determine which user has the project opened exclusively. To determine which user has the project opened exclusively perform the following: Using Microsoft Windows Explorer browse to the RequisitePro project directory In the project directory look for a file type of ".~sr". In ReqPro 7.0 and higher, it is called "exclusive.~sr" Open this file with a text editor View the UID line of this file to determine the user that has the project open exclusively Below is a sample of a ~sr file. In this cause the RequisitePro user "Bill" has the project opened exclusively. This user must close the project to remove this exclusive lock.
[User]
UID=Bill
Access=Exclusive
SessionID={A1FE7D40-DD76-11D3-93C3-00104B944B7F}
Additional information about this lock file: Exclusive access in RequisitePro is controlled by creating a special file on the file system in the project directory. This exclusive lock does not use the Microsoft Access lock file (.ldb). Exclusive access to a RequisitePro database is controlled by the creation of the exclusive ~sr file. The ~sr file will exist whenever a user has the project open. If a user however has the project open exclusively there will be the additional line Access=Exclusive. If you are unable to delete the session file, either the user who opened the project exclusively is still in the project or the session file is locked by another process. First, check to make sure that the user who opened the project exclusively is actually logged out of the project. If they are logged out of the project then you may need to restart the server that the project files are stored on to release

Someone asked me to create a baseline for a project. I have administration access and we are using version 7.1.2 for the thick client. When I go to create a baseline I get an error "Cannot get Exclusive lock...." Is there a way to kick people out so I can get exclusive access so I can create a baseline? Or do I have to email each user and ask them to logoff? I've a total novice to ReqPro so any help would be nice. I tried to use the thick client's help but it doesn't open.
