I use NetBeans 8.1, plus the JOGL plug-in for NetBeans. That plug-in is http://community.cedrus.com/showthread.php?t=66 pretty old now, but still functioning. It supports OpenGL 2.1 if I'm correct. Anyway: my programs that were using GLJPanel stopped working. My environment is: laptop, 6GB, Intel I3 with error creating in-built GPU, Windows10 The error I got was: Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" javax.media.opengl.GLException: Error creating offscreen bitmap of width 640, height 480 Googling for this error lead me to a comment from someone saying that Windows 64 bit broke GLJPanel, and the remedy was to step over to Jogl2.0. Well, I just finished doing that, and although with hindsight it error creating offscreen was very simple, at first it was very daunting and very unclear. In my next topic I'll explain how to get Jogl 2.3.2 running on NetBeans. I have no doubt that that procedure will be more or less equal for Eclipse and IntelliJ. It still works with the Fixed Function pipeline, fortunately! Changing GLJPanel to GLCanvas solved the problem. This is the program I'm talking about. You will recognize a standard program here. You can solve this by having fewer events per trial If you happen to have too many for trial, or by disabling the "Use offscreen buffering" option. On occasion, some users have saved excessively large bitmaps in order to display an image, for example, a 2x2 inch image would be stored in a 8.5 x 11 inch bitmap. In this case, saving smaller bitmaps would help tremendously.
