I http://www.realgeek.com/forums/pagefile-23460.html know all the no brainer solutions and have tried them. I have tried resizing the file in the virtual memory panel under system, changing the permissions in the admin utilities, editing the registry to ensure it has the error creating proper size configured. But everytime I try to restore my paging file it simply refuses to budge from 0. I noted an error message for this when attempting to change it in the admin panel. It returned an error code that I cannot find anywhere on the internet, nor in any tech forums. As follows it is: error creating pagefile. Reason : [80041001} I do not have enough virtual memory to play any online games, multi-task or eben error creating pagefile run some of the heavier setup routines for applications. I am completely baffled as to why this has occurred. I hope someone has an answer for me. Thanks (The weeping dragonlady) dragontooth, Dec 22, 2002 #1 Huon Joined: Aug 16, 2002 Messages: 429 I can't offer anything concrete to help you Dragontooth, but I had bother a while ago with my Pagefiles. I wanted to expand by using other drives to store part of the pagefile on , as well as my main drive. I accidentally overdid it on one drive, and found I couldn't change it back. In the end, I set the pagefiles to "No paging file", and then deleted the file "pagefile.sys" on the drive concerned, using explorer. Things then started working properly from the system panel, and I could reset properly. It did of course require a couple of restarts. Perhaps this may help you? But Huon's advice above, to set "No paging file" etc sounds good. cnm, Dec 23, 2002 #3 Linkmaster Joined: Aug 11, 2001 Messages: 2,872 Hi dragontooth, Welcome to TSG !! Is it worth while? Gazzman Tom Swift Guest Posts: n/a Re: Pagefile Posted: 11-07-2003, 12:37 PM This will make your computer run slower, not faster, as the read/write heads will be forever bouncing between your system partition and your paging file. Won't do much for the life of your hard disk either. Now if you have a second hard disk and you put at least some of the paging file there, you can realize slightly improved performance, depending on what type of apps you typically use.
