This problem is usually caused by malware targeting the application, but Norton Antivirus has been known to cause it by breaking the permissions of HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, as well. You can also go to: Start--> Run--> Regedit Right click on HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT Then click on Permissions Confirm Full Control is ticked By the way, do not edit/change anything else in registry, other than the above. Please reply back with if one of these two options helped you This will help us better in helping others too. Mar 26, 2008 #7 ewkelsie TS Rookie Topic Starter yes! thank you!! i did dial-a-fix. and i got it installed. thank you soo much. Mar 27, 2008 #8 kimsland Ex-TechSpotter Posts: 14,524 Hmm
'Subscribed' : 'Subscribe' }} Need help with HKEY_CLASSES_Root\. then several files. This was when trying to install klmcodec as recommended http://www.warriorforum.com/programming/97496-error-creating-registry-key.html with GFX Video Writer #programming #creating #error #key #registry zain654321 2009-07-13T05:57:06 Since you apparently checked out the permissions on the [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT] key, the only thing that I can assume https://sourceforge.net/p/tortoisecvs/bugs/1394/ is that there may be a problem with the permissions being assigned to new child objects being created under that key. When checking out permissions for [HKEY CLASSES ROOT], error creating near the bottom of the "Permissions for HKEY CLASSES ROOT" screen there is an "Advanced" button next to "For special permissions or for advanced settings, click Advanced". When you click on that button it brings up an "Advanced Security Settings for HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT" screen. The entries that can be added there determine if the subkeys (children) will/will not inherit error creating registry the same permissions as the parent. It appears to me that newly created child objects should normally inherit that same permissions as the parent, but if something was altered possibly that is causing the "RegCreateKeyEx failed; code 5" - "Access is denied" problem. There is a Microsoft article on the subject: How To Use the Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Registry Editor Features support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;310426 Thanks Reply Next Topics on Trending Feed 32 {{ upvoteCount | shortNum }} 5 30.000 words Post!
