I've tried reinstalling Skyrim from both Steam and the Disk, but still can't get it to work. I've also tried changing the SkyrimPrefs file and changing the sound to 16-bit.My desktop rig that I built is running Windows 8 and only has a GT 430 graphics card, but hasn't had any problems http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/615805-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/68592632 running the game. The drivers are up to date, but I still can't get it to run. Any other suggestions?ThanksUser Info: geno_16geno_16 3 years ago#2From what I read on a quick google search, the most common problem that causew this is the Skyrim.ini and/or Skyrimprefs.ini files being set to read-only. So check whether or not those .ini files are set to read-only or not.If they aren't set to read-only, or it otherwise doesn't work, check the resolution the game is trying to launch in. I also saw a couple people get this error when the game was trying to launch in a resolution their monitors didn't support.http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/1797/fella.jpgBoardsThe Elder Scrolls V: SkyrimFailed to Initialize Renderer: Unknown Error Creating the ProblemReport MessageTerms of Use Violations: Offensive Advertising Illegal Activities Spoiler with no Warning Harassment/Privacy Etiquette Issues: Censor Bypassing Trolling Flaming Disruptive Posting Off-Topic Posting Other (must leave note below):Notes (optional; required for "Other"): Add user to Ignore List after reportingTopic StickyYou are not allowed to request a sticky. Other than that, you have provided very little information. I suspect you are trying to run a game which is more advanced than your video allows. If OnInit is aprt of the stack trace, then the exception has to have been thrown from (or passed through) InitializeComponent or base.OnInit(e) Run it in the debugger and see where the exception actually originates. You can also turn on "break on handled exception" if you want, but you'll likely get some false positives. share|improve this answer answered Feb 13 '14 at 14:46 D Stanley 104k972125 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service.
