If you are working on Windows the external debugger must be start-able from a Windows (!) command prompt. Helpful? To reiterate the program built and ran. I did added the c:\cygwin\bin to the path variable. I am puzzling why Eclipse cannot find gdb. It found gcc, make, linker, etc...
